Guerlain Meteorites Pearls Review & Swatches
Guerlain Meteorites Pearls ($60) are now available in three permanent shades for Spring 2014. Guerlain Clair Meteorites is one of those three shades and I can recall one of my VERY first purchases from Guerlain being exactly like this shade. Actually, if I look deep enough I’m sure I still have those pearls.
Of course, this was many, many, many years ago and many, many Guerlain Meteorites have become apart of my collection since but sometimes the traditional shades are the best aren’t they?
Guerlain Clair Meteorites Pearls had a very slight decrease in size this release and a little raise in price but like all good things in this economy we have to expect to see this from time to time. The size is now 0.88 oz and $60 versus the over 1 oz size in the past that was $58. It’s not a huge difference and actually I’m going to say I don’t mind because Guerlain has improved drastically on the packaging of Meteorites by including them in a new tin versus the old cardboard! So if I get less and pay a little more for better quality packaging I’m ok with that as too many times in the past has my old cardboard packaging copped out on me. After several dozen uses cardboard just doesn’t withstand daily use.
Clair is the lightest shade available in these new permanent colors and really kinda just reminds me of Teint Rose which I already own. Inside you’ll find a selection of several colors that act to correct redness and dullness while reflecting light and illuminating skin. Meteorites have always had the same mission to brighten duller skin and give it a softer appearance. It’s one of the main things that have always attracted me to them. I don’t set my foundation or BB Cream with powder but I can’t honestly say a day doesn’t go by that the final step of my makeup regime is dusting on Meteorites although in recent years the compact version has actually become more of a staple of mine than the actual pearls. This is simply because the pearls produce a sheerer finish where as the powder really has a good deal of brightening in my experience.
This new formulation is just as lovely as the old and produces a very soft focused finish. It’s something that’s not terribly visible but it’s enough to give your skin a smoother more radiant finish. So if for some reason you come across a photo where my skin is looking nice, blame it on the pearls 🙂
According to Guerlain the pearls are softer now which eases application. This is actually true you can see that the less dense pearls produce more powder on your brush and allow for a single application versus going back and swirling your brush into the pot a few times to build.
Clair isn’t a shade I’d recommend for darker skin tones which is why I’m happy that Guerlain now offers the graduating colors that will suit many skin tones. Clair is sometime that might appear a bit ashy on medium or darker tones but now you can indulge in darker shades of the pearls to suit such a skin tone.
Of course, I can’t leave this review without mentioning the beautiful scent of Meteorites. These have a lovely sweet violet scent!
You might feel they are expensive but Guerlain Meteorites Pearls are a traditional and classic part of high end makeup that’s well loved by many. If you used, own, and already adore the product I’m positive you’re excited about the relaunch!
These are available now on counters or online at Sephora.com and Nordstrom.com.
