Josie Maran Argan Tinted Moisturizer Review & Swatches

Josie Maran Argan Tinted Moisturizer

At one point in my makeup life I’d have told you Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer was my HG but really that’s changed courtesy Josie Maran Argan Tinted Moisturizer ($38).

When it comes to base products, bb creams, and foundations I’m a cheater. I’m really not faithful to any single product because I really love the chase of discovering new products especially BB and CC Creams. I love trying new ones out and finding ones to love.

So it does come as a surprise that I use Josie Maran Argan Tinted Moisturizer more often than not!

Josie Maran Argan Tinted Moisturizer is a lightweight, creamy formulated moisturizer with a hint of tint and an SPF 30.

Formulated with pomegranate oil and goji berry and natural papaya extract this is a gently hydrating formula that can be used any skin types.

Anytime SPF is added to a product I always feel like it completely changes the consistency of it, makes it a bit runnier and watery. Josie’s Tinted Moisturizer stays delightfully creamy and rich in texture which is one reason I adore it. Granted, I have drier skin so I don’t believe this or any Tinted Moisturizer is going to take the place of my daily moisturizer but I rely on it for the extra moisture and the lightweight coverage even though it contains Argan Oil. I think Argan Oil is a little intimidating because you might think the formula is too rich but really it isn’t as hydrating as one would think with such an ingredient in the formula.

I don’t have major skin issues. I only need lighter coverage that will even out and brighten my complexion and this seals the deal for both of those problems. This brightens, evens my complexion, and sets a beautiful bare skin finish for makeup. I use year round but now that Spring is on the way and Summer to soon follow you’ll likely be lightening up your makeup base usage. This is an excellent lightweight base that creates a truly flawless canvas for makeup!

I do wish at some point that Josie will bring back her Protect and Perfect Argan Daily Moisturizer because as wonderful as this formula is I still prefer the consistency and finish of that product!

Either way, if you want a creamy no nonsense tinted moisturizer which I consider a truly top pick in the TM world I’d head in for a purchase of Josie Maran Argan Tinted Moisturizer.

Loves it.

The lightest shade works for me. I love the argan oil in the formula.

This…as you may have guessed…is my holy grail tinted moisturizer. I sure do love products with series SPF- none of that SPF 10 nonsense. However, Fair is too light (like glaringly) and the Light 1 is too dark… makes my face look slightly dirty. So I buy both of them and mixed them up for the PERFECT shade. I am nuts.

LOL hey whatever works right Rachel!?

Man, don’t I miss that protect & perfect product! I was pregnant and breast feeding in last couple of years, JM products are the only one I used on me and my baby. Wonder why it was discontinued and when it will be back? Haven’t try this TM yet, might give a try this spring/ summer though. Thank you for the review.

I wish she’d bring it back Gina she also had a great concealer pen that I loved but it disappeared quickly :-/ Aw my pleasure!

This seems really nice! I’ll have to check it out in person to see if I can find a color match. I just love argan oil!

Hi Muse. I love JM’s SPF 40 moisturizer and use it daily. I tried the tinted one and didn’t get along with the color. This one looks very yellow on your arm swatch. How does it finish? Blend in pretty well? Sheer out enough to match lighter skin? Thanks

    • 1/24/14 9:14 Isabella Muse:

hi deb, I have the original butter (this isn’t it, this is the shade they call medium 2) and it is quite yellow but blends out sheerer, it’s a more neutral shade. It should match a lighter tone, it works for me however, you can go one up and get medium 1 which is meant for lighter undertones I believe. there’s also one above that in a light shade.

I really wanted this to work for me because I can’t find any foundation/tinted moisturizer right now that is hydrating enough for my extra dry skin. However, none of the colors worked for me. I think they run too yellow. Still on the hunt.

      aw sorry jen :(

  • 1/26/14 2:56 Iris:

I enjoy trying new products as well and have rarely purchased the same item twice.
I wish to try this new moisturizer and hope it works for my skin type, and I’m able to find a colour which matches my skin!
