L’Oreal-Revitalift Oil Free Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother Review & Swatches
L’Oreal Revitalift Oil Free Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother ($24.99) is now available at drugstores as a permanent part of the Miracle Blur Collection this Spring.
I actually love the original L’Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother but didn’t experience the oily skin phenomenon that many people did with their first use. However, in the Summer I have to say, those people that ranted, were right! It seems like Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother’s formula gives me the option to fry french fries on my face in the warmer weather should I like! Few holy slickness Batman!
So needless to say the new L’Oreal Revitalift Oil Free Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother was a tasty little morsel for me to purchase and tuck away for Summer use when I shelve the regular version.
Here’s some thoughts!
L’Oreal calls it the 30 second miracle to blur the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and pores and actually I experienced that with the original. Not that I have finer lines or larger pores but it just softened and smoothed the entire appearance of my face and completely erased the larger pores I do have on my nose! The original formula had an SPF 30 but Revitalift Oil Free Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother does not have any SPF.
I’m not really keen on this new version. The original was a creamy silicone consistency and this is a clear, thicker silicone much like Smashbox’s Primer (which I dislike). Thankfully it doesn’t make me itch like the Smashbox formula however, it does pill when I apply it so be very careful during application. The original formula could be used over foundation however, this is a more traditional facial primer and is meant to be worn under foundation or alone after moisturizer (seriously, I never wear primer alone who does that?).
It has a slippery yet velvety feel with a semi-matte finish. I’m doubtful it’ll curb oil for very long but the initial application does create a smooth semi-matte finish. It does a fairly good job concealing the pores on my nose and just creating a more uniformed smoother appearance across my face. I didn’t experience a longer wear in my foundation using it however, it sets a nice canvas for makeup.
I do prefer the original version but I imagine those who want something oil free would enjoy this formula. Dare I say it kinda reminds me of the consistency of Monistat (which has been known to act as a facial primer for some).
I think I’ll skip on this one and stick to the old formulation.
