Maybelline Espresso Exposed Color Sensational Lipstick Review & Swatches
Maybelline Espresso Exposed Color Sensational Lipstick is one of the more dramatic shades launched with the Maybelline the Buffs Lipstick Collection.
As you know the Buffs are a range of several new nude, natural lipsticks that will be part of Maybelline’s permanent Color Sensational Lipstick range starting this Spring.
The colors were created to flatter a variety of different skin tones and obviously Maybelline Espresso Exposed Color Sensational Lipstick is most fitting for warmer skin tones than my own.
But no worries you can totally rock a vampy lip look with it.
Maybelline Espresso Exposed Color Sensational Lipstick is all bold and drama kids. The formula is nice and creamy with fully opaque coverage at first application. It does have a very subtle flavor and scent. I’m finding the Buffs seems to vary with their flavor and fragrance and this shade is one of the more subtler ones in that area. This has a satin finish and doesn’t tug or drag during application which is a plus for such a richly pigmented shade.
My issue with it stems from the fact it is hard to get an even finish with as it tends to want to migrate everywhere during application and once applied it does much of the same. I’d recommend some sort of transparent or colored lipliner to keep it from taking road trips around your face. The color is quite dramatic for fair or even medium tones so a little clear gloss can help sheer it out and make it considerably more wearable (that’s how I wore it below as you aren’t getting nearly the full effect of it in my picture below).
The shade is a bit burgundy with a deeper wine to it.
If you like the drama this one brings it as it is the boldest shade in the Buffs line up.
It’s a bit too much for me applied full on but with gloss I can work it easily!
I liked this one, a lot, so it gets a Muse Approval.
Have you tried any of the Buffs yet?
