Maybelline Truffle Tease Color Sensational Lipstick Review & Swatches

Maybelline Truffle Tease Color Sensational Lipstick

Another day, another Maybelline Buff to try out! Maybelline Truffle Tease Color Sensational Lipstick is my new hit color for the day George A. Romero himself calls me up and says, “Babe, let’s get married and live happily ever afters!”

Anyone one who makes a zombie movie on a $500,000 budget and proceeds to gross over $55 million dollars on it is all the awesome to me plus hey, I really want a shade of lipstick to pay homage to his greatest works and Truffle Tease is the perfect living dead girl kinda look for me.

Wink!

Maybelline Truffle Tease Color Sensational Lipstick is one of several new lipstick shades from the new Maybelline Buffs Collection for Spring 2014. All the shades are nude, natural shades that are supposed to flatter a variety of skin tones. Of course, I had to stop and think for a second is anyone going to look flattering in Truffle Tease?

Maple Kiss, Truffle Tease, and Touchable Taupe

Maybe.

Truffle Tease is kinda a light tan caramel with a good deal of light beige thrown in for fun. This is a true nude and a shade people will likely go wild over. I personally don’t like it because it nudes my lips completely out so I kinda look like rigor mortis has set in. It has a creamy texture but it ends up looking drier because it accentuates every single natural line on the surface of my lips. For a more wearable and smoother finish try a little clear gloss smoothed onto it using a finger tip.

It does have the customary play-doh kinda floral flavor and scent that most Color Sensational Lipsticks have.

I’m positive it’s zombie approved.

Grab it now at drugstores!

Hey now! Truffle Tease is one of my favorites from this collection. It’s a soft peach-ish nude on me. Sometimes I give it a little boost with Burt’s Bees lip gloss in Autumn Haze. It’s a nice complement to my current obsession with the green shade in the Too Faced Be Merry palette. I also love Sin-a-mon (perfect nude lip for Naked 3, same cool undertone), Touchable Taupe (amazing with Naked 2) and Espresso Exposed (still working on a good eye shadow look for this one). I happened to be in the grocery store as they were assembling the display. As soon as they finished, I went a little crazy. 🙂

I’m what happens when a light-skinned olive complexion wears sunblock everyday for over a decade. Fortunately, I don’t quite glow in the dark (yet).

Fun update:lLayering Espresso Exposed over ELF Matte Lipstick in Natural results in a creamy cool-toned plum. This could be my new dark shade to wear with Naked 3. The experiments shall continue tomorrow!

Oh nooooooo, I wanted this and Touchable Taupe! Only nude lippie that looks perfect on me right now is Covergirl Sultry. Seems like only nudes with pink undertone work. Bahhh :[

I grabbed this when I meant to get Sinnamon, and was preparing myself for a dramatic big NO when I thought to layer it with L’Oreal Shine Caress glossy balm stain (which are also great btw) in Everlasting Caramel, and it turned into the perfect nude brown on me. A variety of glosses later and I’ve reached the conclusion that it works nicely (for me) as a beige base. I have…complicated skin undertones, so having this might make it easier for me to pull off some trickier colors.

Not what I was after, but not a total loss in the end.
