NYX Butt Naked Turn the Other Cheek Palette1

The NYX Butt Naked Turn the Other Cheek Palette ($25) is a follow up of the Butt Naked Palette that NYX released last year. This all in one eyeshadow palette contains five shades for eyes as well as four blushers, and three highlighters.

Created to enhance your natural beauty this is filled with both natural, nude and matte and shimmer shades.

Take a peek!

I think the NYX Butt Naked Turn the Other Cheek Palette contains considerably more wearable shades when compared with the original NYX Butt Naked Palette. I really loved the original version but the shades were a bit too light and pastel where as these colors are a range of warmer naturals and nudes.

The palette is made up of a good deal of soft, silky mattes with a few lovely shimmers thrown in as well. The shadow formula is quite smooth and silky but sometimes shades can get a little chalky and look dry on lids so be sure to prep well prior to application. I find the consistency very powdery during the initial application but they do blend out well however, wear time is shorter due to the looser texture of the shadows so again, prep well prior to application for the best most intense looks. On their own colors blend out sheerer so a cream base of sort will give the shades better intensity.

These are colors are beautiful though. They really rounded up some nice colors that go well together and create very nice natural eye looks. There’s a very pretty pink peach shade here that works well on the outer corner of the eye with a softer matte beige on the inner corner.

The palette features a larger very generously sized mirror and a pull out tray located below the shadows that includes four blushes and three highlighters. The highlighters are very nice! Soft, silky, easy to blend and add just a BARE touch of radiance. They particularly look good on bare skin and a little swipe under your eyes doesn’t go unnoticed to brighten the area up. The blushes are equally love with plenty of pigment and a smooth, silky formula that blends well. My only rant about the blushes is the wells are a little smaller and closer to the opening of the palette making it hard to wriggle my brush into them.

NYX has this listed at $25 and I think that’s a little high a price for the brand. The good news is places like Cherry Culture always have NYX sales and you can snatch this up for around $15 or so and in that case it is very well worth the haul. There’s a few quirks here and there but overall, it’s a solid palette stocked full of some great products and at a rather nice price tag when you can grab it on sale (I wouldn’t pay full price nor do you have to with the amount of sales a variety of places like Ulta, etc have on NYX Cosmetics).

I got this for Christmas and I really love it. The shade I’ve used most is the second one on the top, which is a nice medium taupe-y color and is great for a very subtle everyday look on my fair skin. My only issue with the palette is also blush-related: it’s hard to keep glitter from the highlighters and sparkly blushes from contaminating the matte ones. I do like shimmer, but not all the time. I wish it were easier to keep those matte shades matte!

agreed! the wells for the blush are so tiny and the highlighters to big it’s hard not to get shimmer into them :-/

thats a very nice daytime look! 🙂

i own many NYX products and palletes, but i find the NYX individual blushes better quality than the NYX palette blushes.

Thanks for the review! I was interested in both palettes, but this one seems more my speed.

I’ve had this since November, and I’m disappointed with the color payoff of the shadows. I never use it, and that’s a shame because I love the blushes and the highlighters. But seeing your review makes me want to pick it up and play with it some more.

sassa, give it a better chance…try using sponge applicators too, the small eyeshadow ones, they really help built color up! and cream base helps intensify them 🙂 def play!

I’ve had this palette since November, and I do really like it. The only shade that gives me any trouble is the yellow-gold on the bottom row, but I must have gotten a “dud”, because your swatch looks amazing. Fortunately, it’s the one shade in the entire palette I don’t really wear, so I’m not upset by it. I agree, a base or primer is very important with these, if one wants full intensity of color, but I like the idea of them also being able to be on the sheer side, as it provides more options. I did pay full-price, and even for 14 shadows, I think it was a fair price (and I’m an eyeshadow “snob”), not including the blush/highlighters, which I don’t think I’ll use much.

As much as I really like this palette, I *love* the “original”, more. While these shades provide a more “natural” look, and are more universally wearable, I do prefer the shades of the first, for *me*. With my coloring, these shades look like I’m wearing makeup, whereas with the first one, I get the ultimate “naked” eye.

I’m planning to buy this palette, however it’s very pricey here in the Philippines @$40.
I do have the nude on nude palette so I do agree that most NYX eyeshadows require prepping.

    Great review!^_^

oh my god I cannot handle, had a look around target the other day and saw these “new” nyx palettes for $40 so I thought I’d look for some reviews. Cannot believe how slow Australia is on the uptake.
