Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara Review

Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara 4

Another day another Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara to tackle! This time around it’s Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara for Spring 2014 arriving at drugstores now.

I’m generally ok with the Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara Collection however, the last two or three releases have left me with a bad taste in my mouth so I wasn’t sure Retro Glam was going to do it for me.

Here’s some thoughts!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara 1

Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara has an hourglass shaped applicator and comes in both waterproof and non waterproof formulas. Supposedly this gives lashes a bold, wide eye look with a false lash-like finish.

Admittedly, I always have a difficult time getting to the inner and outer corner of my lashes but the hourglass shape of this applicator is actually very helpful in getting to all lashes. The bigger ends of side at the applicator make it so you can pull those pesky inner and outer lashes upwards and out lending them some nice length. The formula is quite black and a bit wetter but it sets to a dry non-stiff finish within seconds of application. I didn’t have issues with it clumping and this waterproof version I indulged in wore strongly without smearing, flaking, or disappearing through a twelve hour period.

To me it keeps the promise of a wide eye look as it produces more natural, fluttery, or what I call doll-like lashes. However, bold and and false lash-like is overkill. I’d love more volume here….it separates my lashes a bit too much which makes them longer yes but also a bit wimpy looking as if I just combed through them versus actually applied a few layers of mascara.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara is all about natural, fluttery lashes but don’t expect volume or drama. For that you might need to layer another mascara!

WHHHHHHHYYYYYYY????????????? I just got the regular version of this mascara. Which I really enjoy as an everyday mascara. Now they have a waterproof. Now I am going to have to get this one as well. I mean

Even though Rimmel’s Show-off mascara made me die a lot inside (I’ll stick to Benefit’s They’re Real, thank you very much), I was curious about this one because the brush reminded me a little of the Better Than Sex brush. I tried it, and surprisingly loved it. I have long lashes naturally, but it’s nice to look a -little- more awake.

Gonna have to try this one. This is the look I try to go for with my lashes, darker and separated.

That brush does look really handy! Now that you point this out, why are wands traditionally tapered at the ends? This makes more sense.

true! brush def helps grab those pesky inner and out lashes 🙂

hmmmm…. interesting. Thanks for the review. I’m hesitant to try this mascara since I barely have any lashes. You have beautiful eyelashes btw!

For me, there is no such thing as too much volume. I definitely can pass on this.
