Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss ($20) is a new lipgloss available in nine shades launching with the Urban Decay Spring 2014 Collection tomorrow on UrbanDecay.com and later this month at other retailers.

The Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss will be a permanent collection of glosses and one of the earliest gloss launch from Urban Decay since they launched the Lip Junkie formula.

Let’s take a look!

Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss comes housed in a mirroed rose gold tube with a sponge tip applicator for application. I love, love the rose gold packaging but it is a magnet for fingerprints.

The gloss is available in nine shades in a selection of nudes, bronzes, and pinks all catering to a more “Naked” lip look. These colors are quite sheer and create a very pretty MLBB (my lips but better) finish. I think the colors are all universally flattering across a wide range of tones and make the naked, nude lip look very wearable.

The formula is very lightweight and has an almost gel-like consistency and applies easily. They aren’t thick, tacky, or sticky and have a very comfortable moisturizing feel on my lips with a nice shiny finish. I can get a wear time of around three hours from them. Urban Decay calls them a luxe gloss with a lip balm-like formula but I didn’t feel like they were balmy at all but they did have a very moisturizing finish through the wear for me. They have the same minty scent and taste that the original Lip Junkie formula does.

According to Urban Decay the formula includes hyaluronic filling spheres as well as vitamin e, avocado oil, and shea butter to hydrate lips and keep them looking full and plush. The consistency of the gel formula does indeed feel and look plushy and full on lips.

Overall, Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss offers a very comfortable gloss experience with a formula that isn’t heavy or tacky. If you like a naked lip look these are a product that will give it to you in a moisturizing formula with a good deal of shine and just a hint of natural lip enhancing color.

These launch later this month at Sephora, Ulta, and Macys and will debut for purchase tomorrow at UrbanDecay.com.

Will you be indulging?

Man, I want these but don’t want to shell out the moola for them. The price I am assuming they’ll be *cough$24cough* is not worth it imo for such little pigmentation. :”'[

    But the packaging though! <3

    • Lucia

Pigmentation isn’t the only deciding factor for some people. I personally love the sheer, glossy, slight-hint-of-color lip look — a lot less “granny” (as my bf calls it) than the opaque lipstick look. But I agree, that is a steep price to pay for any lip gloss. Yikes!

  • Erin

I will for sure grab like 4 of these. They are gorgeous, simple, and look great for layering over the Urban Decay lipsticks.

  • Lacy

These shades are beautiful but really I just wanted to comment on your pretty shirt! heh 🙂

  • Nina

Ya know….I’m kind of disappointed. I think they all look basically the same on the lips. I prefer the shades of the previous glosses…. Hmmm, looks like UD is going very “Naked” (and more conservative?) indeed. Hope they consider releasing different glosses with more color and dimension. I’ll stick with my BB High Shimmer glosses for now.

  • Bethany

Not much of a lip gloss girl…but these are so calling my name! Can’t wait to try them. Thanks Muse for the swatches…it helps me make my choice of which ones to buy!

  • auroragyps

I’m so sorry, but all I can think is, “Boring.” It’s not that I don’t really like UD’s Naked stuff, I’m just getting a bit Naked-ed out, ya know? Maybe they should form an offshoot line called, Naked Decay or something like that?

LOL, I almost feel like an old school UD little old lady, that remembers UD’s Pallor lipstick and DTs & Gangrene polish and say, “Hey you kids, get off my lawn!” 😉

  • Celine

I too also feel that $20 is a bit much for these. Not very much “wow” factor in them to justify paying that. Also, I agree that I’m growing a bit tired of their Naked line. As much as I love my Naked 3 and glad I got it, I always have associated UD with being more wild in shades which is what made me fall in love with the brand.

  • Nikki

Hm yeah I agree, they all look very similar in color on your lips. Kind of remind me of Benefit’s Ultra Plush glosses in the fact that they’re so sheer. I think these would be great if they were more pigmented because the colors swatched on your arm look beautiful but they all loook blah on the lips 🙁

  • sjgs

At first I thought these were gloss sticks and I was like, “Uh-oh.”

But now that I see they’re liquid I have no problem taking a pass. I agree with auroragyps and Celine that the whole Naked thing is getting a bit old. Put some clothes on Urban Decay, you’re drunk!! LOL

  • Katie

I want them all. I don’t need them all, but I want them all. And Muse – what’s your eyeshadow look here? Gorgeous!

  • krankenheim

I also feel like Urban Decay is losing its edge. Urban Decay is supposed to be “Beauty With An Edge.” That was their slogan for the longest time and it still say it on their website under About Us at the bottom of the home page. But I’d have to disagree. Urban Decay used to be a whole lot more edgy and fun.

I have a feeling that Urban Decay has mistaken the popularity of their Naked shadow palettes with interest in an entire Naked line. Let’s be honest, the Naked foundation is absolutely horrid and makes every single fleck of dry skin just pop. The Naked flushed isn’t for everyone and there’s no shade range there. The Naked Beauty Balm is only “meh.” And while they’ve added a light and a dark shade, and that’s nice, it’s still not a great product – good but not great. As another commenter said they’re growing tired of the Naked line, so am I. While it’s nice for the office it’s not fun. It’s not what makes Urban Decay, Urban Decay.

I find myself reaching for other brands more and more now, especially Too Faced. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely ADORE my Naked 3 palette, but I’m tired of seeing Naked products. And this lipgloss – it’s totally BORING.

  • Majick

The case is pretty. I really appreciate the honesty of your readers. I think the product looks and sounds good but there really isn’t much difference in color once applied.

Like another reader suggested, I think they would gloss up the new UD lipstick (which I LOVE btw).

I may try one eventually but not for full price. Frankly, I’m getting a little sick of the overinflated prices of cosmetics these days. Just like a drug, once they get you hooked…

  • Chrissie

Hi Muse! Love your blogs and great reviews. I have to agree with others being naked-out. It does seem pricy for a lip gloss that’s barely there. I love UD for their outrageous colors! As much as I love their Naked palettes and pressed powder, UD should go back to their edgy colors.

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks Chrissie 🙂 <3! Hugs! I totally understand...but I think they are trying to market this to someone who wants a more naked look, but yeah, ud roots are all about the bold and dramatic 🙂
