Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush 1

I’m still busy testing out the new Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush but swatches and pictures seemed like a good order of business today!

Ya know, some folks said these reminded them of Milani Baked Blush but I’m getting more of a Laura Geller Blush n Brighten from them.

Anyone try ’em yet?

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush 2

One thing that surprised me about these was the size. The compact are actually a bit smaller than the Hourglass Ambient Lighting ones!

The consistency reminds me of the matte Laura Geller Sugar Free Blush n Brighten. It’s a very soft slightly chalky texture. For some reason I thought they’d have a good deal of shimmer and sparkle but these are very, very low key in the sparkle department.

I haven’t yet fully tested them so I’m working through them now and will review as soon as I have. I still want to pick up the other two shades available but they sold out before I had the chance!

Anyone try these yet?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

They launch officially this February at Sephora, Sephora.com, and at hourglasscosmetics.com.

Oh jelly you have the two I want most!! 😍 Radiant Magenta and Diffused Heat. Swatches look promising on our similar skin tone. Can’t wait to read your reviews!!

    • Melody

Say Muse what do you use to swatch to your arm with? Fingers, brush, sponge applicator etc?

      • Isabella Muse

an eyeshadow sponge applicator, I’m not keen on using my fingers to swatch so I relay on those larger sponge eyeshadow applicators to swatch.

        • CC

Me, either. Muse! I just can not bring myself to stick my fingers in my makeup! Besides the yuck factor, it seems to leave a mark on the product tht doesn’t disappear.

          • Isabella Muse

yeah, gross 🙁 I tend to use sponges for swatching…sometimes swatches come out uneven or patchy when I do but it’s better than sticking a finger in the makeup!

I have the mood shade and like it enough. I also thought it would give a more luminous glow. The color is nicely pigmented and wears well on me.

    • Isabella Muse

so far I’m not really getting the luminous part which did disappoint slightly!

  • Lacy

So I have ethereal glow, the lightest pink shade and i like it, don’t love it. they hype was more exciting than the turn out. they are slightly chalky but are butter smooth on the face. I agree with you muse as they aren’t really luminous, however i am still on board with it as this shade is such a pretty pale pink which i love for my fair skin.

I am loving the dim shade though, what a beautiful light peach shade. it reminds me of Nars Sex Appeal. I wish i could do a swatch comparison

    • Isabella Muse

so far I’m having the same experience Lacy! I think the promo images and the marketing of a luminous glow really had me at hello but after trying them I do question the hype! I’m def still testing…..but so far I’m a little disappointed!

  • Ashley

Anytime I see a marbled anything I want to run and hide, tired a Maybelline swirled eye shadow once and was seriously disappointed but these could change my views entirely!

I got the one in Dim Infusion and like it very much. It is a perfect blush for an NC-25ish lady like myself. I’m very pleased that there’s no sparkle, but there is a bit of a glow. That being said, these will not deliver a major lit-from-within kind of glow that the Ambient Lighting Powders do, which saddened me a little. Regarding the small size, Muse; I was OK with that as you use much less of these blushes per brushload than you do with the Ambient Light powders and the blushes are $15 less. Just my humble opinion, but I thought it was a fair price and a fair amount of product. The color lasts pretty much all day and applies very, very smoothly.

Lovely swatches! I like Radiant Magenta the best so far. Muse, could you do side by side swatches w/your Laura Geller blushes? I’ve got both the sugar free shades & wonder if they might be close enough to skip these? Thank you!!

  • Majick

I really want to treat myself to one of these for my b-day this month. I have Dim Light powder and really like it – I get compliments on my skin when I wear it.

I’m not sure yet what color I will end up with. I haven’t even had time to go online to look. Our browsers at work are so old that I have to do it from my phone or at home. I’m surprised I can still post here. LOL

  • Abryda

I had left a comment on your page saying the same that these remind me of the Laura Geller blushes which I completely love & couldn’t agree with you more. It seems like everyone is having the same issue of not being luminous enough, I guess since the veining differs on them some might have more color then others, however for some reason after all the hype I expected a little more. Definitely if I had to choose I would pick Radiant Magenta & Diffused Heat. Thx Muse

    • Isabella Muse

abryda, they DO very much remind me of Laura’s but the matte/sugar free ones…! I def am not getting the luminous glow at all which leads me to say they are too expensive for what you are getting, you can get a Laura BnB for less at this price..I’m reviewing the shades individually and I def have a few bits and bobs to say about ’em 😀

  • lisa

I bought Radiant Magenta first and fell in love. I cannot wear Laura Geller blushes as they don’t show up on me. this one is gorgeous and just blends effortlessly. Then I bought Luminous Flush and it really is more for fair skin in my opinion. I have cool medium to tan skin and it is pretty but really a bare glow. For me, I guess it will be good when I wear heavy eye makeup or really dark lips. I was going to take it back, but it is so pretty….what to do, what to do….

    • Isabella Muse

lisa I hope I feel the same about the other shades 🙂 so far I’m on the fence!

  • amy hoeh

ok…I know that this is totally off topic (as well as another brand entirely), but I’ve been searching for reviews all morning (seriously…hours!) for the MAC prep and prime natural radiance in radiant pink. Has anyone tried it? It’s marketed towards fair skinned people (I never knew that the yellow was for darker skin tones?). Before I make the purchase plunge, was wondering if there truly is a difference. After all of this time, why are they just now telling us that the yellow isn’t for all skin tones? Did I miss something.
I went to you, Muse, first because you seem to have your finger on the pulse as it’s happening! love and hugs!!

  • pianogirl

I’m absolutely obsessed with these new blushes and so far only picked up two shades, mood exposure and radiant magenta. I can’t stop starring at them, true piece of art lol i find that mood exposure makes my tarte exposed blush last longer and the two create a nice dimension. The radiant magenta is just to foe for gorgeous shade and makes my skin look awake and lovely.

    • Isabella Muse

I couldn’t agree more visually they are truly beautiful 😀 I’m so happy you’re pleased with them pianogirl!
