MAC Prep Prime CC Colour Correcting SPF 30

MAC takes on color correcting CC Cream with a new MAC Prep + Prime CC Colour Correcting SPF 30 that’s available in four shades and will be part of the permanent MAC Collection starting Spring 2014.

MAC BB Cream
isn’t one of favorite products but I have to say I have a tiny soft spot in my hear for these new Colour Correcting facial primers.

MAC Prep + Prime CC Colour Correcting SPF 30 is available in four shades and will have launched officially today. These aren’t a traditional CC Cream but do have some of the benefits of one with a formula that evens skin tone, brightens, and protects with an SPF 30.

You can actually use them all their own. For example Adjust is a peachy beige that will work fine as a lightweight tinted moisturizer of sorts to even skin tone, brighten, and provide a makeup-less look that’s very, very flattering if you do not suffer from major skin problems such as redness, blemishes, acne, etc….! This is actually my favorite shade of the four released.

Other shades include Neutralize with is a sheer yellow tint meant to be used to combat redness although it is quite subtle so you can’t completely rely on it for complete coverage of ruddiness or even rosacea. It will however, act as an excellent base to tame redness. You can also tap it gently under your eyes should you like to diffuse the appearance of dark circles.

Illuminate is a light shade of lavender which brightens and whitens duller skin tones. I’ve used a lavender base for as far back as I can remember but MAC’s is one of the better ones because it is a very sheer product. Some lilac bases are a little too strong which give a pasty appearance and finish. MAC’s version is very light so it does ease dullness slightly but doesn’t leave a chalky or pasty look on skin!

And finally you have Recharge with is a strong orange-y apricot. This is supposed to add warmth to medium or darker skin tones. Personally I dislike this shade because of the heavy orange-y bronze cast it leaves on my skin but certain skin types will likely love it.

MAC Prep Prime CC Colour Correcting SPF 30 are actually excellent facial primers. They do what the Clinique Superprimers failed to do. That would be multitasking to correct issues such as uneven skintone, dullness, redness, etc…plus provide subtle hydration to help prep and easy the way for foundation as well as protect with an SPF 30.

Some of these shades are fantastic correctors and act to brighten up my duller skin while protecting it and prepping it for makeup.

I’d definitely explore these if you’re looking for a new primer that not only preps but corrects as well!

They are available now at MAC counters or grab them at Nordstrom.com.

My Muse Approved goes out to Adjust for its great my skin but better finish as well as Illuminate for brightening up my duller skin!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I got the neutralizer one , i hated it needles to say it dosent even out skin tone and very drying im wondering if this has silcone in it because silcone is a no go for me especially because i have dry skin already.(sigh) I’m on the hunt for prolonging primer for my dry skin.

I absolutely love these! I have them in Neutralize and Illuminate. I only use Neutralize on my redness, if I use it on my whole face it washes me out. Illuminate works amazingly allover. It’s actually pretty great for evening out and brightening up any dullness on no-foundation days. And that SPF 30 is a bonus. I actaully tried applying these different ways and I found it works best when blended in with an ever so slightly dampened foundation brush, really helps activate the moisturizing effect. I want to try out Adjust next just to see what it can do for my NW10/NW13 skintone.

If you’re darker than a NC42-44 or like NW40 it looks like you probably can’t really use any but ‘Recharge’. If anyone is NC45/NW43 or darker using the other 3 besides ‘Recharge’ i’d love to know for what and how it’s working out.
