Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Matte/Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
By some miracle the Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Matte/Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette ($29.99) and Sonia Kashuk Matte Red Lipstick released for Holiday 2013 are still very much available at certain stores or online at Target.com.
Praise the makeup gods!
I absolutely loved the Matte Red Lipstick and even I didn’t get a chance to review it during the Holidays I am totally on board with the Eye on Neutral Matte/Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette.
With nudes and naturals, cure the Maybelline Dare to Go Nude Collection, on the rise for Spring 2014 now is a good a time as any as to haul out the Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Matte/Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette.
Apparently this little palette combines the Matte Eye Couture Eye On Neutral and Shimmer Eye Couture Eye On Neutral Palettes into one. Those palettes range at $19.99 each so this gives you both at a $10 savings although the eyeshadows in this palette look a bit smaller…unsure how big the ones are in the Eye Couture Palettes but these weight in at a total of 0.51 oz for all eighteen shades.
This is a very nice size compact. It’s quite small with a generously sized mirror and isn’t bulky or clumsy to travel with should you desire. It’s nice to have eighteen shades of nude eyeshadow in one easy to carry around palette should you go away for a week or two and you’re not wanting to carry a ton of assorted eyeshadow with you. I think in someways this might remind you of palettes like the E.L.F. Cosmetics Little Black Beauty Book but I do think the quality and pigmentation is considerably palette.
Note: I swatched some but not all of the shades in this palette.
The shimmer shades are incredibly smooth with a velvety texture and excellent pigmentation. They wear on my drier lids for a solid six hours without creasing and show minor fading at around hour eight. They apply like butter with a smooth finish that’s has an almost metallic sheen.
I think the mattes are slightly drier. I wish they had a little more of a silky consistency but with a sponge applicator they do apply easily without looking chalky or patchy. It’s just the texture is a bit dense and dry when compared to the lovely texture of the shimmers.
Either way I think the palette is quite great. I like the travel size, I like having a ton of nude, natural options in one part, and they consistency of the shades is fab. Of course, you do have to question slightly at dishing out $30 on this. About $20 more will get you any of the Naked Palette including the brand new Naked 3 should you desire and those are all full size eyeshadows that won’t have a drier texture on you. I have wishes that this was $14.99-$19.99! I think the $29.99 makes me wince slightly! A price chop wouldn’t go unnoticed for next year’s Holiday palette but there is quality to be had here with a great array of natural shades tucked into one small compact!
It’s available now (apparently for a limited time for the Holidays but thankfully still available) at some Target locations (mine still has it) or most definitely online at Target.com.
