Covergirl Bombshell Shineshadow Review & Swatches

Covergirl Bombshell Shineshadow

I’m slightly shocked I love Covergirl Bombshell Shineshadow ($5.99 at Drugstores). I’m typically very disappointed by Covergirl offerings! They have some great products but sometimes the formulas just don’t pan out well for me.

Covergirl Bombshell Shineshadow launched earlier this Spring in six shades. These new cream shadows offer color, shimmer, and come housed in a tiny tube.

Are they great?

Yeah, I’d like to think they are.

Covergirl Bombshell Shineshadow contain reflective pigments which give them a very nice shimmery finish that isn’t too overdone or disco ball-ish. Each shade comes in a tiny tube which you can squeeze the shadow out onto fingers or the back of your hand for application with a brush.

Color Me Green and Platinum Club

The shadow formula offers the option of a sheer wash of color or easily builds for more impact. It has a fine metallic finish with a dewy look that never feels heavy or sticky. The texture is creamy and applies very easily with the aid of a brush or simply with your finger. I find application with my finger is the easiest method for these! I just squeeze a small amount onto my finger, apply on my lid, and blend gently. They do have a good deal of shimmer but also a nice wash of color as well. They set in a matter of a few seconds but still give plenty of time to work with them and build as needed. I find two applications gives nice opaque color on lids from the two colors I tried out.

I didn’t have a single issue with the shadow creasing but you’ll see that color fades a little bit at around hour seven. This was of course, on drier eyes, unsure how the texture will do oily lids.

Count me surprised as the formula, wear, and ease of use on these new Covergirl Bombshell Shineshadow. Only thing they are missing here is variety as six shades is a little sparse for those wanting a wider selection of colors.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I must have gotten a bad one because I HATED mine with a passion. No color showed up only glittery sparkle, it looked AWFUL. It didn’t build at all or anything either, I tossed it almost immediately…something I usually try not to do.

Those look really pretty on you-I might have to check them out! Thanks!

I have Copper Fling and I love it! It’s the cheapie version of Laura Mercier’s Metallic Creme Eye Color (not as pigmented but sometimes I thought the Metallic Creme was a little too crazy intense). Is this permanent? My drugstore’s display is gone.

I really want that one 😀 gonna have to grab it. they are supposed to be permanent products could be that they are adding them to the perm display that’s why they disappeared temporarily!

Maybe it was the particular tube that I bought, but after trying to make Color Me Money work, I gave up and tossed it. All it did was leave a coating of glitter everywhere on my face no matter how I worked it. I didn’t get any color, just loads and loads of glitter. I chalked it up to yet another craptastic CoverGirl product.

    BUT…

I have the Lilac one (Oh La Lilac, I think) and absolutely love it! It goes on smoothly, is a gorgeous color, and stays most of the day (I did experience some creasing by late afternoon). I have Platinum Club but have yet to try it. I hope it works like Oh La Lilac.

aw 🙁 that sucks! this is one of the first cg products I’ve liked in a super long time! I want the Copper one, curious if that ones will be a go ;-D

Hey Musekin, what lipstick are you wearing in the “color me money” swatch above? looks lovely on you and is my favorite hard to find color, would you call it peachy or coral, or what? i get confused by the names different brands give it? hoped you enjoyed the Spring tease for the day

CG used to make a cream eyeshadow product in a similar tube… I think it might have been called Cool Effects? I hope these are similar but with better wear time!
