Hard Candy Sheer Envy Color Correcting Primer Review & Swatches
Hard Candy Sheer Envy Color Correcting Primer ($6 exclusively at Walmart) is one of six new tinted Sheer Envy Primers that Hard Candy introduced for Spring 2014 with color correcting benefits.
Hard Candy Sheer Envy Color Correcting Primer is a green facial primer which preps for makeup as well as corrects redness.
Have a look!
Hard Candy Sheer Envy Color Correcting Primer quite reminds me of the range of Clinique Superprimers that were recently introduced. Of course, at $8 bucks they are considerably cheaper.
This comes in a 1.3 oz squeeze tube with a formula that addresses redness. It’s tinted a mint green which is suppose to neutralize redness and sallowness. I have neither issue myself so one of the other formulations in this line would possibly be a better fit. In order to test it I applied a little Benetint on my cheeks to see how well it did correcting ruddiness and redness.
The formula is a heavy, thick, and creamy silicone based primer. It pills right out of the packaging! It’s a little too thick which means it’ll roll away as you blend it out. It also seems to create unnecessary slickness on my drier skin as I apply and sets to a semi-matte finish within a few seconds of application. It is considerably more tinted than some of the Clinique Superprimers were so it does ease redness every so slightly however, if you have major ruddiness or even suffer from rosacea so isn’t going to do a great job neutralizing that much of a problem.
I think the texture is quite lovely but it pills horribly during application which is a deal breaker. I don’t see this as an end all for shine control either as it seems to actually create a bit of shine at first application and as the day progresses. It does have some heavy duty silicones in the mix which means it’ll blur the appearance of pores and/or fill them however, since it pills so much during to application you might find that doesn’t quite work out.
Hard Candy Sheer Envy Color Correcting Primer has potential but has quirks that make it disappointing.
It’s available now at Walmart or Walmart.com.
