Jill Stuart Tulip Fields Mix Blush Compact N Review & Swatches

Jill Stuart Tulip Fields Mix Blush Compact N1

Jill Stuart Tulip Fields Mix Blush Compact N is one of two new shades of blush introduced with the Jill Stuart Spring 2014 Makeup Collection in Japan.

I purchased Tulip Fields because it was limited edition and also because it was the most unique of the two shades. I actually dislike Mix Blush Compact N with a passion and you likely know from my past reviews and prefer Jill Stuart Blush Blossom or the older loose powder blushes which are no longer available, sad sigh! However, Jill Stuart Tulip Fields Mix Blush Compact N was such a delightful shade I thought I’d give the formula a retry.

Let’s take a look!

I still hate it.

I thought perhaps the Tulip Fields brush would be a rather nice complimentary shade to go the Brilliant Lily Jill Stuart Lip Blossom Lipstick which is one reason I decided to purchase it.

But I can just never get over the chalkiness of the formula.

This comes housed in a Spring decorated palette. Typically the Mix Blush Compacts are a mirrored silver but there’s a pretty decorative floral face plate making this packaging a little unique. If you purchased some of the pieces from the Jill Stuart Big Apple Collection you likely noticed the blushes in that collection also featured a unique insert!

I remember several years ago when Jill Stuart launched the Mix Blush Compact and being quite delighted with the packaging but also worried about the attached retractable brush. It seemed rather a pain to have a brush attached to the compact. But no worries! Yes, the brush comes with the blush and it is attached with a silver change but it has a small clasp that allows you to easily remove it for application and to reattach it for application. The brush is has a decorative swirl against a silver mirrored barrel with a small pink diamond slide for pushing the brush up and retracting it. The bristles are quite soft but they do from time to time shed a bit. They also have white bristles which means they get dirty awful fast.

The actual blush is made up of pretty Spring shades of buttercup yellow, a light fruity peach, a candy-like coral orange, and darker coral orange. Combined I get a bright orange-y coral on my cheeks. I dislike the formula since it is quite chalky but not powdery or dry. It does have a rather huge cult following but I suspect that’s because many Asian ladies have oily skin and a formula like this is ideal for oily skin. However, as a drier skin girl it just doesn’t quite look as seamless as I’d like. It wears for around six hours for me before showing signs of wear. The color is buildable but sheer at first application. The color does pop but the lighter shades of yellow and peach tone down the louder shades a fair bit.

I think many will enjoy this formula but I’m simply not a fan.

However, there isn’t any doubt that the Jill Stuart Tulip Fields Mix Blush Compact N is a delightfully unique shade. It reminds me of Spring flowers and for some odd reason, candy!?

This shade as well as other shades in the Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact N Collection are available from gooddealer.com as well as E-bay seller AlphabeautyUK.

I purchased this item.

Wow, too bad about the formula (I’m a little on the dry side as well) because the packaging is really cute. I love that it has a little brush attached.
