NYX Merci Beaucoup Love In Paris Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

NYX Merci Beaucoup Love In Paris Eyeshadow Palette ($10) is one of several 9 pan eyeshadow palettes that NYX released last Spring. The NYX Love in Paris Eyeshadow Palettes actually were the start of brand new packaging for NYX as these kept the standard black lacquer packaging but also added a cute bow clasp to open the palette.

As you can see this packaging has worked itself into most of NYX’s offerings.

These 9 Pan Palettes are marked at $10 each so you aren’t spending a ton of cash on them however, there are SO many places that offer BOGO deals as well as major mark downs on NYX you’re bound to score them at $5 each if you search hard enough.

I typically love NYX single eyeshadows and even some of their larger palettes so I was excited about NYX Love in Paris Eyeshadow Palettes.

This is a nice selection of nude shades arranged in trios down the line so you don’t have to really guess what shade goes with what as they are grouped in such a way you can create one complete eye look using three shades per line. Of course, you can mix and match anyway you please as all the shades contrast well with each other. There’s nothing worst than getting an eyeshadow palette with a mismatch of shades that simply don’t work together so I’m ever so graceful when a palette like this crosses my path.

I find the formula is a little inconsistent. Some shades are a bit powdery, others chalky, and some of the mattes drier. The finish varies here from shade to shade. I think the satin have a bit of a powdery texture but they apply well over a cream base of primer of some sort. I think on their own they sort of slip off my eye and have a patchy application but with a base they apply considerably better. Colors look more intense as well under a primer where as without they are a little duller. The mattes are the worst offenders as they are a chalky and dry! I find a sponge tip eyeshadow applicator is best for packing on color. They do fade a fair bit as the day progresses so again a cream base is ideal to keep the intensity of the shades I’d suggest NYX Milk Eye Pencil or even a Maybelline Color Tattoo will do wonders. Pigmentation is best on the satin shades as the mattes are considerably sheerer and lighter.

For what you get this is a little pricey at $10. I think single shadows from NYX rival the formula here. However, I’ve run across palettes I absolutely adore from NYX which have a soft, velvety texture. That isn’t to say this palette doesn’t have that but I thought the consistency of the shades was all over the place. At $5 that would be a better deal! So if you do want to try them out I’d suggest grabbing them on sale. I haven’t yet tried any other shades aside from Merci Beaucoup so I might feel differently with future palettes! We shall see!
