Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Hydraswirl Review & Swatches
It’s a funny thing about Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Hydraswirl ($33.99) it might seem expensive for a drugstore eye cream but it actually has some rather fine ingredients.
Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Hydraswirl is one of a few new skincare products launched in the Regenerist Luminous Collection (there’s a cleanser and a new moisturizer as well) that addresses the appearance of dark circles.
Let’s take a look!
Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Hydraswirl includes niacinamide as well as palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 for fighting the signs of aging as well as brightening up the eye area.
Actually you’ll see visual results right away thanks to mica in the formula which diffuses the appearance of darkness. The mica is one reason I dislike this though as it’s a little TOO bright for me and it makes me look like I applied some sparkly, frosty eyeshadow under my eyes. Considering my eyes are drier I didn’t feel this was moisturizing enough for me and it sort of patched up on me during application as well (I think that comes across in my swatch below). Since a little will go a long way due to the mica I felt inclined to apply very little and this in turn does nothing for my dry as the desert eyes. I find the texture a little odd as it seems to be made up of part gel (like the texture of Olay Age Defying Classic Eye Gel) combined with a thicker highlighter type cream. I find it doesn’t absorb so well which results in some unusual patchiness under my eyes due to the cream portion of the product.
Although Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Hydraswirl contains a great array of anti-aging ingredients at a cheaper price compared to counters I’m one of the unfortunate few that can’t really use as I need way more moisture and the mica is just a little too sparkly for my tastes.
You might wish to use another eye cream prior to this for extra moisture and rely on this to diffuse the appearance of dark circles while also treating the delicate skin under your eyes. Of course, niacinamide may brighten things a bit with extended use but won’t technically erase or treat dark circles completely. That’s where the mica comes into play at reducing the appearance of that pesky darkness!
For those in need of plenty of moisture you might not find it with Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Hydraswirl. However, if you have dark circles to do battle with this might brighten the area up considerably but use sparsely for a more natural finish.
