Pantene Cleansing Conditioner Review

Pantene Cleansing Conditioner hits drugstores this Spring for fans of Wen who always wanted a budget friendly option! Recently, Herbal Essences Naked Cleansing Conditioner released and last year L�Oreal EverCurl Hydracharge Cleansing Conditioner which sorta started the ball rolling for drugstore formulated cleansing conditioners.

To be honest, I love this because Wen felt like the only option for a long time but Wen does remain my favorite none the less.

Pantene Damage Repair Cleansing Conditioner will only set you back about $5-$6.99 at drugstores though which makes it a favorable option compared to Wen’s way higher price tag.

Honestly, if you wanna try out a Cleansing Conditioner and want to do so on a budget I’d stick with either L’Oreal’s version or Herbal Essences as I didn’t feel Pantene Cleansing Conditioner cut it for me.

This felt more like a hair masque treatment to me. It’s very thick and creamy but it lacks the thickness I’ve come to associate with Cleansing Conditioner. I also felt like I was conditioner my hair or using a conditioner treatment or mask versus actually cleaning my hair when I used it. Out of the shower my hair was very soft and tangle-free but…this will sound weird…it didn’t actually feel clean as I brushed it out. I get more of a squeaky clean feel when using the Herbal Essence formula.

This does rinse clean away but I do feel like it leaves a little bit of a film that sometimes conditioners do. This might be why I felt less than cleansed after using it. It also builds up badly so be sure to clarify weekly if you’re using this. It’s not a co-wash but Pantene recommends shampooing and conditioning your hair every 2 to 3 days after using this. Eh? It’s a cleansing conditioner why do I have to shampoo and conditioner like I do regularly!? The entire idea and concept of a cleansing conditioner is it cleanses as it conditioners and acts to do both jobs…no reason to add an extra step to my regime the point was to eliminate steps not bad more.

Overall, if you’re going to budget friendly route for your cleansing conditioner I do suggest Herbal Essences or L’Oreal as those were the better option. Pantene’s version creates a good deal of build up and doesn’t exactly give my hair that squeaky clean feel.
