Revlon Sandstorm Super Lustrous Lipstick Review & Swatches

Revlon Sandstorm Super Lustrous Lipstick

Revlon Sandstorm Super Lustrous Lipstick is one of five new shades that launched with Revlon The Legacy Super Lustrous Lipstick Collection. The collection features five repromoted and much beloved shades from as early as 60’s and into 2000. I can’t honestly say I’ve tried any of these shades in the past so its nice they reintroduced them for both old fans and new ones to enjoy.

I only purchased Sandstorm but my mate Dustin swatched and reviewed all the shades of the Legacy Collection should you like more swatches and thoughts. Or he has a video up if you’d rather see a video review.

Take a look!

Revlon Sandstorm Super Lustrous Lipstick is such a me shade. This is a warmer smoldering bronze with a good deal of brown. It does have a slightly frosty finish but nothing too dramatic. It’s a vibrant shade with excellent pigmentation and full opacity on a single application.

The formula is creamy, comfortable to wear, and has a slight sheen. Wear time is around four hours with minor fading at hour five without it migrating or feathering on my drier lips.

With Summer just around the corner this is an excellent shade to pair up with bronze-y looks. I’ve never actually owned it or even heard of it so it’s a nice shade to discover or rediscover if you’re a fan.

I believe these shades are back by popular demand for a limited time but don’t quote me on that.

Overall, I’d say Revlon Sandstorm Super Lustrous Lipstick was the nicest shade in the collection.

I did pick up Sandstorm – I anticipated that it would be a “me” shade too. Unfortunately, it’s just too brown and frosty on me. I think if I use a peachy kind of gloss, it may cut back on the brown snow affect, but I just don’t want to put that much work into it. I have too many lip products that are easier.

Thinking about getting a backup of the Peach.

Come to me Sandstrom! I have yet to see these lipsticks when I’ve been out and about.

Weird, I was really into all the nudes and browns of the 90s (at the time )and I totally remember Sandstorm as being a mid tone nude..not a straight up brown/bronze. I seriously wore it so much that i went through many many tubes so I’m VERY familiar with the color..or at least i thought I was!

Hi Isabella: I have been dreaming about a Velvet Touch lipstick called Sumptuous Bronze. Complete strangers used to compliment me on it when I wore it. It’s been long gone but I enjoy reminiscing about it. Recently I found a place in NYC that make reproductions of lipsticks discontinued. I have not tried it yet, its a bit pricey but plan to.

Also I have been looking for the Revlon Fifth Ave. Red, Snow Peach, Jungle Peach, Sandstorm and Icy Violet collection that came out several years ago. Was hoping to find an old collection on ebay or somewhere but no luck.

Isabella I really enjoy the lipstick swatches you put up. Time and time again I find myself back here finding out what a lipstick color truly looks like before I order it. Your enjoyment and excitement shines through!! You even have me interested in Sandstorm and originally I thought it was kind of yuk, but having seen pics I am thinking of trying it if I ever run across it.

    Thanks so much!

Hi Nellie thank you for your lovely comment! I’m so glad you enjoy the swatches I do! How interesting you found a location that can replicate shades! How much do they charge for something like that? I’d def see if you can find on ebay or even mercari might be a good option! Good Luck! I hope you find the shades you love!

        Hi Isabella:

Sorry took so long to answer. They charge $60 for two tubes of lipstick. Same color. Ouch. They won’t do one but I have not really asked or begged them either. I was thinking of finding a friend that wanted another color and we both pitch in. You know we each get a diff color. They will also reproduce other cosmetic products. I am thinking of asking them to reproduce the discontinued LANCOME MODÈLE SOURCILS Brow Expert in taupe. The new Lancome brow stuff is horrid, at least to me. I scan ebay and mercari religiously for my fave lip and brow. No luck. The moral of the story is: if you love that lipstick, buy two extra and put them away. Continue to buy as needed or until it is not in stores anymore and then break into your stash.

Sorry so long to reply, been on lockdown in the Northeast. Here is the website where you can purchase a reproduction of your discontinued lipstick. https://www.threecustom.com/searcharchive or
PO Box 983, Provincetown, MA, US, 02657
        1-888-262-7714
[email protected]. If you don’t see it there, you can send them an old tube with a just a smidge left and they can reproduce it. They charge $ 70 for two tubes. One drawback is they do not post pics of all the lipstick colors they have. I even wrote to them and asked but they said no. I would be amazing, no heavenly if they did!
