Sephora Pantone Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick 1

All you fans of MAC Heroine brace yourself because Sephora Pantone Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick ($18) has arrived. The Sephora Pantone Radiant Orchid Collection is now available at Sephora and with it they bring us a new shade of gorgeous purple-ly pink lipstick available in two formulas.

For the scared of their own shadow girls like me we have the new Sephora Pantone Venus Lure Lip Balm which is a sheerer, lighter lip balm that gives a hint of Pantone’s Color of the Year Radiant Orchid to lips.

And for the daring girls who aren’t afraid to go bold?

We have Sephora Pantone Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick.

Sephora Pantone Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick 2

Sephora Pantone Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick does effect embody the color of the year perfectly. Not quite magenta and not entirely fuchsia this cross of purple and pink clashes together to create the perfect shade of orchid for Spring.

Available for a limited time and housed in a magnetic to close square barrel with an ombre design this lipstick is all sorts of chic and elegant. Unlike the Sephora + Pantone Universe Color of the Year Creme Lipstick, Sephora stepped up the game with this packaging as if you recall it was all about a showcase of stark white to showcase the loud shade of tangerine and even last year’s emerald.

Interesting enough this lipstick has a matte satin finish so it glides on like a satin, feels like a satin finish, but has more of a matte look on lips. Interesting combo eh?

The formula isn’t drying and doesn’t accentuate drier areas on lips or the natural lines on lips. Color doesn’t migrate of feather on me and it has a hint of a nice sheen. I wouldn’t call it moisturizing but it isn’t drying in the least and wears for a solid five hours and fades to a very pretty stain behind that lasts for a few hours after. Apparently the formula is infused with orchid essence and collagen to give lips a plumped look but I didn’t feel like my lips necessarily looked fuller while wearing it. The orchid essence doesn’t give this a floral flavor or anything of the sort. It actually doesn’t have a flavor or a fragrance.

I’m a little uncomfortable in the shade myself and think it would look best on darker skin than my own but I can’t deny it’s a lovely formula and a beautiful color!

If you’re looking for something a little unique, different, and dramatic for Spring I think Sephora Pantone Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick brings it!

It’s a definite miss for me. I really wanted to like it and rushed out to Sephora when it was released and the entire line was a huge let down for me. I really had high hopes for the lipstick and the eyeliner and both fell flat. To me the lipstick was a little too pink when swatched on me. I looked at it and thought.. Barbie.. instead of radiant orchid. That said it is a lovely color it just wasn’t what I wanted or what I was expecting. The eyeliner which looked so brilliant online was a pale, powdery pink that hardly showed up at all and the texture was thick and lumpy. Another let down. I ended up purchasing two more lip tars in rollergirl and pleasure model and one of the hourglass blushes after hearing rave reviews from a friend. The lip tars and blush definitely don’t disappoint though I’m starting to wish I’d been brave enough to grab pool boy. Maybe next time.

Everyone has their preferences but personally I think that color looks lovely on you. It may seen shocking to you as you aren’t used to seeing bolder colors on your face. Wear it around the house for a while until you get used to it. That’s what I did when I started experimenting with color and now I’m a devoted Sugarpill and UD fan. I walk around town.. and even work with colors like Smitten, Acid Berry, 2AM and darling packed onto my lid. Luckily I do well enough at work that my boss just ignores it! I will be snatching that lovely new palette from Ulta with my points along with one of the new liner options as my liquid perversion is almost out. Very sad.

mmmm yeah Alison maybe a little Barbie! But def some purple in it for me anyway 🙂 the eyeliner was weird! I expected it to be the same as the lipstick shade but indeed it is a powdery pink shade. It’s pretty but hard to wear! Aw thanks! <3! I def will wear around the house but not sure I'll head out of the house with it hehe! Aw that's great! Nothing like being able to wear color to work 😀

I don’t understand why so many people are flat out terrified of color. It’s very possible to wear fun colors and keep it appropriate for the workplace. Maybe it’s the women and funhouse mirror syndrome. I have theories about that.

I do believe that tangerine was the 2012 color of the year. Last year was emerald.

My first take on this was Barbie all the way. Way too pink for me. I will be honest, I have more or less ignored Pantone Universe because I have not liked the color offerings. I shy away from tangerine-ish shades because I am a light skinned blonde but with very cool undertones and it was just too much for me. I don’t like the orangey lipsticks too much either because they make my pearly whites kind of look yellow. ( I spent alot of money to keep them white, lol) The emerald one did not excite me either, having hazel greenish eyes I could have pulled it off, but it just was not me all.

I went to Sephora last Saturday in search of a new foundation. I have used Guerlain Lingerie de Peau for a long time and I so love it. I developod Rosacea in the past 12-18 months. I do not know what the trigger was. But I knew my Lingerie de Peau has alot of fragrance. So I decided to do away with it. I have had alot of treatment and don’t want to flare up. Anyway, they were doing a Pantone event for the weekend. The store director ( who knows me on a first name basis, I know that is pretty bad) asked me to try a Pantone lip, so what the heck I said o.k. She aplied the lip balm version. The color is super sheer and not Barbie at all. It glides beautifully, and it is so buttery soft and smooth, and the color is great. Of course I had to think about it, and I went back the next day to buy it. Of course it was totally sold out. When I checked online they did not have it at that time either, so I called another Sephora a bit further away and they said they had a few. So of course I had to go get it. I decided to try the matte while I was there. I do not usually like matte lipsticks alot ( except for Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope). But I was very pleasantly surpised. I am light skinned, but the color was not at all Barbie pink. It toned down to a nice pink, that almost looked like a stain, even though it is not. I do not find that it is moisturizing or drying at all. I suppose that it varies fron person to person. It lasted a good 5 hours, and even then had a little color left.

On the other hand, the Venus Lure lip balm version is stunning, It is the same color as the matte, just toned down, the color is gorgeous, and it is very shiny. It is also buttery soft, and feels amazing on the lip. I bought the balm sill going back and fourth on rhe matte.

    Awsome!!!

howdy Musekin, we have very similar coloring all around and colors with a bluish base just clash with our complexion/eyes etc. my 2 cents. I like you best in peachy/corals/bronzeys and berry’s without the blue.
    (pinching your cheek now)
    luv ya

    • Isabella Muse

🙂 thanks mindy! always fun to try something different from time to time though!

Purple just isn’t a color I like. It also clashes with my super fair skin. But, the purple blush palette looks really pretty. I’ll probably only pick that up. I do love this color as a nail polish though!

  • Jeannie

I just got mine from Sephora.com – it has little-to-no pigment! It’s so sheer it just looks like lip balm. 🙁 Yours looks fantastic, even if it’s not your kind of shade. Very disappointing.

    • Isabella Muse

jeannie did you maybe get the balm one? they have two versions of this! the radiant rush is the full color lipstick perhaps you got the balm by mistake!?

      • Jeannie

LOL I DID! I went to return it yesterday and the kind cashier was like “uh…try the lipstick maybe?” How confusing to make them look exactly the same – packaging and the bullet! I did swap it and love the color. Thanks for the help. 🙂

        • Isabella Muse

lol no worries 😀 I’d have changed the packaging too! makes sense to do so bc people don’t realize there are two versions! dumb sephora!

  • melissa

I love bold lippies but I haven’t check this one out yet. I’m sporting my my pre-tan tan, don’t hate – ‘cuz I live in the desert LOL – jk. I also happen to think blue based colors flatter me so this might be a go. The price is in my new makeup budget too. However, I have been wearing clinque berry pop blush and the coordinating lip pencil pudgy peony which are both bright but definitely leaning more pink on me. I don’t want two of the same/similar lip shades but the clinque is more of a gloss so we’ll see.

  • Heather F.

It’s kind of loud, but I think you could really pull it off in public if you wanted to 🙂 sadly, it would overwhelm my very fair skin. I like the color, though!

  • Cindy Ramirez

Totally disappointing in this entire collection. I went and swatched a bunch of the products, and everything I played with is more on the pink side then the purple. I was really hoping Sephora was going to take the purple trend and run all the way up the hill with it, but alas, they did not. :'[

  • dina

aww I love this on you though!! pretty change up 🙂 I’d want to rock it with a smoky eye for a night out look
