Urban Decay Black Velvet Eyeliner

Say hello to the new Urban Decay Black Velvet 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil ($20) that arrives with the Urban Decay Summer 2014 Collection. This new eyeliner pencil is made exclusively for the smoky-eye gals at there that want a perfectly smudged out smoky look!

Take a look!

As a fan of Urban Decay Perversion, yeah I love it hardcore, I’ll be the first to admit it isn’t exactly the best eyeliner in the world for a smoky look. The formula is very creamy and almost slick which means it glides onto lids without skipping and looks incredible on waterlines due to the blacker than black formula. However, that creamy slickness also translates into more smears than soft smokiness when you blend it out.

The new Urban Decay Black Velvet 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil is a velvety, more powdery version of Perversion. Urban Decay created this exclusively for girls who love a smoky eye look. This is a drier texture with a little more density and creaminess but still has an easy glide no tug application. That velvety and matte texture translates into killer smoky eyes because the formula smokes out more easily as you blend so instead of a creamy smear you’re getting more of a powdered out blend which makes for a perfect smoky eye look.

The pencil creates the perfect soft, smoky edges you need for a dramatic smoky eye. I actually had issues with using it on my waterline so if you’re looking for the best waterline shade I’d recommend also purchasing and owning Perversion. Used together these shades define and rim eyes for a beautiful smoky finish.

Urban Decay Black Velvet concentrates it’s formula on a more matte, softer application but still manages to have a blacker than black pigment that spot on as great as Perversion. The drier texture also means if you felt Perversion was too creamy for your oily eyes and lids that you won’t have a problem with the more matte version of Black Velvet.

I actually lined with this for testing purposes only but I think it’s more of a tool for smoking out eyes. If I’m lining with it I get all day wear from it on my drier eyes without smearing, flaking, or giving me raccoon eyes. Smoking it out is the same effect, I wore it for a solid ten hours smoked out and color remained perfectly intense and didn’t smear around my eyes!

Overall, Urban Decay Black Velvet 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil is a must have tool for creating the perfect smoky eye!

Loves it!
