Givenchy Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadow3

Givenchy Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadow ($23) is a new cream eyeshadow the brand launched in nine, permanent shades. According to Givenchy these wear for up to 16 hours but honestly, I’m not sure I need my eyeshadow to last that long!

Initially I purchased a single shade which was Beige Mousseline because it reminded me so much of my very favorite Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Sand Dune. So yeah, I was curious about the Givenchy Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadow formula but if I’m honest I also really wanted this color because it reminded me SO much of Sand Dune which I can’t live without.

Anyway….it’s almost a dupe which I’m quite happy about but in the process I also fell in love with this formula. It’s quite a nice cream shadow plus affordable at $23. Givenchy isn’t really marked at such mid-range prices so yeah, this is kinda affordable when you compare it to their typical price range.

Let’s take a look!

Givenchy Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadow

I’ll tell you a secret when you’re running against products like Chanel dOmbre Long Wear Eyeshadow and Dior DiorShow Fusion Mono Matte Eyeshadow you should probably NOT house your product in a plastic jar. Shhh…!

In all seriousness, I was a little shocked they went plastic. In most cases when high end does cream shadows they house them in glass jars and hell, even MAC goes glass with their cheaper Pro Longwear Paint Pots.

I don’t mind the plastic but was a little surprised by it! Needless to say I like the small size as it stores easily or if I need to it’ll travel lightly with me.

I love this formula! It isn’t dry, it isn’t too slick or slippery, or too creamy! The lighter creamy consistency is the perfect blend of what a good cream shadow should be like. It doesn’t have a set or a dry down time and it applies easily onto my lids without tugging. It has a smooth, even appearance on first application and wears for around 8 hours on my drier lids without creasing or fading.

Givenchy Beige Mousseline Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadow is a peachy orange beige that’s deceptively matte in the pot but actually contains some fine silver shimmer. I was surprised I got fall out from the shimmer! I had a few flecks that popped up under my eyes as the day progressed. It wasn’t a heavy fall out but it was there.

I love this shade. It’s great for nude, simple eye looks! If the shimmer isn’t your thing, it’s really barely noticeable, you can go with Bobbi Brown’s Sand Dune shade as it’s a touch lighter but just as beautiful for natural looks!

This shade reminds me of estee lauder’s shadow paint called Pink Zinc. Perfect shade to use as a base.

Hi Muse: love your blog, in re: to this Givenchy cream shadow I gotta say 2 thumbs down, on me didn’t stay longer than an hour, leaving a cast of shimmery spots all over my face … returned

I WISH I could find an eyeshadow that actually would last 16hrs. From the time I put on my makeup (5am), mot things will get me through the work day, but if I have a mtg or event in the evening, I pretty much have to wash my face and start over. Would be great if products really did last from morning to night, but of all these supposed 16hr products, I’ve never found one that really lives up to that–esp. for foundations.

I like the plastic jar on these! Means I can ship them to my friends as gifts easier without a lot of shipping cost 😀

I love these cream shadows though, so smooth and budgeproof. I don’t even need primer for them which is rare for me!
