Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder Brush

The Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder Brush is a Summer 2014 limited edition launch to be used with the Terracotta Powders. Guerlain markets it as a brush with ultrasoft natural bristles that allows for just the right amount of powder to be applied evently onto skin.

Shall we take a look?

I hate to say it, as I love Guerlain, but you do not need the Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder Brush. It’s a $42 short handled brush that doesn’t have “ultrasoft” bristles.

This comes in a soft velvety case with a magnetic closure. It’s a super short handled brush, even smaller than a brush you’d get in a MAC Holiday Brush Set. Don’t be disappointed by the size as that works to your advantage. The short handle allows precise control over the brush and allows excellent and precise buffing. It’s compact size is easy to work with and ideal for buffing techniques.

The other nice thing about this smaller size is it fits easily into your Meteorites Pearls container. So you can either use it for bronzer buffing or for applying your pearls.

Guerlain Bronzing Powder Brush

Guerlain gets everything down pat with this brush. The handle, the packaging, the elegant look of the brush, etc…etc…that is until you get to the bristles. I should start by saying I don’t mind a dense brush! Density in a brush can be a good thing and allows for precise application however, the bristles are kinda scratchy and aren’t as soft as one would expect from such a luxurious brand. I’d go so far as to say yes, indulge in the brush at $42 BUT…the bristles as is make for a disappointing experience. I feel like the bristles feel harsh on my face. It doesn’t shed and washes quite well.

Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder Brush is an excellent brush in design but the bristles are just too harsh to give it a go ahead for purchase. This one disappoints unfortunately.

Do you own any Guerlain brushes?

What’s your experience with them?

It’s such a pretty color though! It reminds me of red velvet cake.

Mmm, I have to go now…

Yes, I feel the same! Even their usual Meteorites brush with a beautiful pouch and handle feels scratchy. Everything else is perfect except the bristles, why can’t Guerlain just somehow tweak that!
