L’Occitane en Provence Divine Lotion Review
L’Occitane en Provence Divine Lotion is skin softening toner that I’ve been using several months now. I really enjoy the L’Occitane en Provence Divine Skincare Collection but actually use the lotion more than anything else from the collection.
Skin softening lotions (essences) or as we label them here in the US “toners” are getting some recognition lately. I suspect by Spring 2015 you’ll see a little bit of a trend for them. Essence is a common part of Asian skincare and one of the first steps in skincare application. Skin softening lotions like L’Occitane en Provence Divine Lotion is just one product in a long line of others that a typical Asian woman or man would use in their daily regime. Typically skincare regimes in Asia are made up of 5 to 8 daily products. Imagine that? I’ve adapted my own nighty skincare after this regime myself as I spend a lot of time around Japanese and Korean skincare and makeup. It seems overkill yes but actually my drier skin quite loves it.
Let’s take a look ad this Divine Lotion!
L’Occitane en Provence Divine Lotion isn’t really a traditional toner. You aren’t getting out a cotton ball and swiping this one. This is a thicker textured toner yet a thinner consistency than your average moisturizer. It’s a watery gel-like consistency which you apply to the palms of your hands and press gently onto your skin. I think skincare users in the US mistakenly apply prodcts like this with a cotton ball but for the best results you’ll want to press it onto your skin using the palms of your hands.
Supposedly this formula contains anti-aging properties from immportelle flowers which have 7 plant derived ingredients to give this lotion not only a moisturizing finish but also to lend suppleness to skin. It has a unique herbal scent that’s very pleasant but sensitive users might find it a bit much.
Typically after cleansing I mist my face and allow it to dry down naturally. I follow up with my Philosophy Miracle Worker Pads and after I press this Divine Lotion gently into my face and allow it to set before following up with my other skincare products. This acts as a prep of sorts for my serums and moisturizer. It softens my skin and gives it a “cushy” finish. If you suffer from drier areas or flaky areas after cleansing this is a nice way to gently set the pavement for your moisturizer as it acts to tone, soften, and hydrate allowing your serum(s) and moisturizer to absorb easily into skin. It’s very rare I don’t use an essence or lotion like this prior to other products. It’s just a very ideal way to prep my skin for other products!
I don’t think Divine Lotion has been life changing. My skin isn’t brighter or healthier looking since using it. It is however, an ideal product for prepping my skin!
If Divine Lotion is too expensive a product you can check into MANY of my Korean and Japanese versions for other affordable essence and skin softening lotions like this that are considerably cheaper. Skin Food makes some amazing ones!
