Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick Review & Swatches

Lorac Alter Ego Lipsticks

The new Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick ($16) got a permanent twenty shade launch for Summer 2014.

Considering the brand hasn’t really done a lipstick launch in a very long time I think Alter Ego Lipstick is a nice, new addition to the permanent range. No one loves Lorac Eyeshadow Palettes as much as I do and they never disappoint with their seasonal shadow palettes but I wasn’t actually quite happy they also went so far as to do a rather extensive lipstick shade release.

Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick

Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick is what they call highly pigmented (they weren’t lying) with a long wear and Vitamins C and E to hydrate.

Let’s take a peek!

Alter Ego Lipstick

Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick is marketed as a creamy lipstick and indeed it has a super creamy formula with a creamy matte finish. Housed in a lightweight metallic barrel featuring a visible color window located at the bottom (so you can tell which shade on the fly).

Socialite and Jet Setter Swatches

These are a pretty classic cream matte formula. They contain absolutely no shimmer or sparkle and have a smooth, even appearance. The real joy is the pigment they packed into each shade. Whoa mama! These are fully opaque on a single application and give lips rich, vibrant color. The wear time is pretty darn incredible as well lasting at around eight to nine hours without transferring, migrating, or feathering.

They do not tug during application and apply quite beautifully however, I do feel they are a touch dry on my drier lips. The formula is lightweight and the dryness not terribly uncomfortable but it should be taken into consideration if you dislike drier lipsticks!

Another nice perk about Alter Ego Lipstick is not only do they pack pigment but they are nicely priced at $16 each.

Overall, if you generally like cream matte lipsticks and like them long wearing and pigment rich I’m positive you’re going to adore Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick!

These are available now at loraccosmetics.com.

Hi Muse – Thank you so much for the review and swatches! I ordered a trio from HSN,and I am anxiously awaiting their arrival. I will plan to use a balm-like product (Mally’s Lip Magnifier Chubby Pencils or Skinn Cosmetics lip 6x gloss which is a super hydrator) underneath. I hope I can make them work. I greatly appreciate your honest and thorough review!

hey karena! Yay! Glad you grabbed that trio! It was a nice deal. Let me know what you think, curious how you like them. They are crazy pigmented 😀 have to go look up this Skinn Cosmetics Lip 6x sounds good 😀

I also ordered the nude trio from HSN and recieved them a few days ago. I am on the fence about them but would say I really don’t care for them much. For me they did not last as long as stated they would. Plus I found the nude colors to be very blah and not flattering. I am 46 and they show every line on my lips as well as feel somewhat drying. So not sure whether to send back and lose the shipping cost or just stick with them and use now and then. If the shipping wouldn’t be taken out I would def send them back. Hope you like the trio better. I’m thinking the ones with color might have been a little more attractive. Good luck. 🙂

def dryness for me R! but great long wear. perhaps use a bit of clear gloss on top so you can smooth them out and get a little moisture in :_D

  • Majick

WOW – these look great! I love the color you are modeling and I bet it looks really dynamic when you wear your hair down. I will have to check them out the next time I need a quick fix at Ulta. LOL

    • Isabella Muse

oh thanks Majick 😀 I’m kinda not sure about it to be honest hair up or down! purple really isn’t my shed ;-D

  • Cindy

These lipsticks look fantastic! I wonder if Ulta will start selling them, I’d love to be able to try them out in-store!

  • heather

pigmented, matte, and zero sparkle?! these sound amazing & right up my alley. can’t wait to see the whole line in person at ulta!

  • Melody

Yay! Been waiting and hoping you would have a review for them soon! Great price range, good look and longer lasting. Def now a must have for me. Thanks! Btw.. Socialite looks like a peachy nude by swatch. Or is it more a beige nude? I wanna replace TT Leatherette with a peachier or pinker nude shade for less wash out. We have similar skin tone 😉

    • Isabella Muse

more beige Mel! It’s zombie lips on me that’s why I wasn’t wearing it in the post haha 😀 I wish it was more peachier as it would be more wearable for me!
