L’Oreal Collection Privee Review & Swatches

L'Oreal Collection Privee Colour Riche Lipsticks

Now that I finally reviewed all the shades in the L’Oreal Collection Privee Collection for you I thought I’d share some final thoughts!

As you know the L’Oreal Collection Privee is a selection of high end looking L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipsticks (there’s also a Privee Nail Polish Collection available) that come housed in a matte black casing with gold accents. Each shade is inspired by the skin tone of a past or present L’Oreal model or brand ambassador. The shades a range of non traditional nudes for creating a natural lip look.

The celebrities included in the collection are Eva Longoria, Freida Pinto, Jennifer Lopez, Julianne Moore, Doutzen Kroes, and Liya Kebede. This collection actually got an earlier launch in the UK but it’s now popping up here in drugstores. Unfortunately it is a limited edition launch so if you love these shades you’ll have to be sure to pick them up as soon as see them as they will likely disappear fast.

My suggestion is if you do see the L’Oreal Collection Privee at your local drugstore is to wait on a sale. I realize the shades are limited edition and will likely sell out fast but aside from a few select shade I felt like they all applied either too sheer, too patchy, or too dry.

I love what L’Oreal did with this collection! It’s a selection of non traditional nudes that aren’t beige based. You have colors here that are more about embracing the my lips but better philosophy versus settling on a traditional lip look.

L’Oreal even excelled at creating gorgeous packaging for the lipsticks. Each lipstick has the signature of the celebrity that inspired the shade and comes in a matte black tube. Although I do fear this tube is a magnetic for dirt and grime as it quite reminds me of NARS packaging.

I think L’Oreal did everything right with the collection. The colors are wonderful, the packaging beautiful…however, I think the formula is inconsistent across the board and isn’t nearly as good as some of the L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick permanent shades. There were about one maybe two colors in this collection that I was ok with the formula but most were either sheer or applied a bit patchy and they basically accentuated every single natural lip line I have! Imagine how they’d look if you have aging lines?

I wouldn’t call them a complete bust because some of these colors are truly flattering and unique. You might wish to pick them up and “work” with them although you should never have to “work” with any sort of makeup! If it is good makeup it should work right from the get go.

The L’Oreal Collection Privee is a beautiful selection of shades that I just wish performed as well as they looked. I hope that L’Oreal takes note of this for the next around. I’d love to see another collection like this in the future but with a collection of shades that are not only beautiful but also LOOK beautiful on my lips. Unfortunately many of the formulas just weren’t that good.

What was your experience with these lipsticks?

Do share!

Julianne’s and Eva’s nude are very pretty! The formula is making me think twice about trying them out though. I hate when lipsticks settle into lip lines!

I only could find Jennifer’s Nude and it works well for me! I wanted Eva’s Nude but it was sold out 🙁 The other colors I saw were all used “ ick!

I picked up Jennifer’s nude. I normally dislike nude lipsticks, but I really like this one! No zombie lips! I dislike the fragrance aspect, but it fades soon enough to not be bothersome.

Oh and yes” definitely pick it up on sale! 🙂

Eva’s nude reminds me of a shade from Revlon’s laquer balms, but I think this shade’s better since the shimmer is finer than the one from Revlon.
