Maybelline Bleached Neons Color Show Nail Polish

Bleached Neons? Such an oxymoron right? That’s exactly what Maybelline Bleached Neons Color Show Nail Polish a total oxymoron! Bright yet not as vibrant as a neon but subtle and washed out with color that appears charmingly faded out!

I think neons scream the 80’s to me and although the 80’s trend has a way of popping up every Summer I feel like Maybelline did so much of a better job with the paleness of the Bleached Neons Collection. These are more wearable shades! Vibrant yet subtle, bright yet washed up for a look that’s unique and not all about neon!

Maybelline Bleached Neons Color Show Nail Polish swatches

The new Maybelline Bleached Neons Color Show Nail Polish go with lighter, muted shades of wearable neon in this limited edition collection for Summer 2014. Available in seven limited edition shades and launching this June at drugstores the collection provides wearable colors to to embrace a faded out neon look for Summer.

These washed out shades of color are the perfect compliment to your Summer looks adding just the right amount of color to tips without being too outrageous. Think of them as that perfectly worn out t-shirt or pair of jeans you so dearly love!

These have a cream finish with some glossiness that varies from shade to shade but no sparkle or shimmer of any kind. They are translucent at first application but with three layers (swatched below in two applications) they become more opaque. They dry very fast so I felt pressed to act quickly to apply them. I get about two of wear before they chip on me which is fairly fast but in their defense I do type quite a bit daily mind you this is without a base coat. The nice part is they are quite affordable at around $3 each depending where you buy them so you can get the entire Summer range for as little as $20 bucks or so should you wish!

I think the shades are super fun. Neons are nice don’t get me wrong but I think they prove difficult to wear sometimes. These washed out colors are a little easier to wear so the bring the fun of neon but the subtly of a pastel!

The Maybelline Bleached Neons Color Show Nail Polish launches at drugstores this June. I’ve already seen displays of them at Harmons so if you have a Harmons in your area do hunt them out there!

Anyone grab these yet?

What do of the colors?

Loves ’em?

Leaves ’em?

Do share!

    Hi Muse,

Which photos are more color accurate? The one with all the shades or the photos of each individual shade?

    • Isabella Muse

they are both taken in the same lighting Cat, not sure if they are spot on accurate, very difficult to capture exact accurate shades or at least for me it is who happens to be a goof with a camera.

I know all the big players do a neon collection every year, but IMO there is a huge difference between a true neon and a bright collection called a neon.

And like you, I agree, this collection is true to the name. A faded or soften neon very wearable, a nice nod to back in the day, if you are like me, old enough to have worn the 80’s blind you neons.

The only ones I didn’t pick up are Citrus, Lime and Pink and I will be adding them to my collection.

    • Isabella Muse

agreed! It’s kinda a washed up look that’s softer and prettier ;D

I just LOVE these colors! I think I want this whole collection lol

I saw these about a month ago, but passed, as my polish hoard is getting out of control. I did, however, pick up a gloss from the collection in a soft peachy-nude shade, which I absolutely love.

I just bought the peach. I used it and had to redo my nails quite a few times before I was satisfied and even now im not really happy with it. I was looking on line for reviews hoping someone felt the same way. I found it to be streaky going on even after 3 coats I was still not happy about it. It is not nearly as bright as the pictures you have posted here! 🙁

I applied two coats in these swatches, color was still a little translucent, three seemed the lucky number for more opacity! thankfully no issues with streaking though! I applied on my tips and toes and it was smooth, creamy color but it did chip fairly fast!

Day Glow Teal, Lime Accent, and Coral Heat are calling my name! I’m struggling to find the Maybelline summer collection in my area =(

  • butterdaisy

Oh wow! These are so pretty and different I want to pick up the blue, purple, peach and coral.

  • Majick

I love this new trend! I picked up some of the new OPI colors and they are similar – faded neon LOL. It really does make them quite wearable and yes I did have a neon green bikini in the late 80’s. LMAO (wish I could wear that sucker now…boo)

  • Melody

Oh my gawd I needs all of them! They answer every shade I was looking for this year! ;D perfect $20 self gifting for Birfday month teehee
