Maybelline Pop of Poppy Color Whisper Review & Swatches
Maybelline Pop of Poppy Color Whisper is one of two new, limited edition Color Whisper Lipstick shades that launched with the Maybelline Bleached Neons Summer 2014 Collection.
Let’s take a look!
Maybelline Pop of Poppy Color Whisper is slightly misleading as this color is anything but poppy! This is a pretty candy medium toned pink, I’d go so far as to call it a rosy pink! The shade is pretty in the tube but a little more muted and natural on lips.
Some folks have described the Color Whisper line as slightly gritty and I haven’t experienced that really for myself but Pop of Poppy actually proves this is a very real thing. This has a very slightly odd texture! I wouldn’t call it gritty but it does feel rougher compared to past shades I’ve tried, own, and love. It isn’t necessarily a bad thing as it still applies beautifully without tugging but you can feel some of that roughness during application.
The color runs sheerer but it’s enough to create a very pretty pink on lips that’s wearable and natural. I find it moisturizing with a certain slickness and an easy, weightless wear on lips with absolutely no fragrance or flavor. I’ve likened the Color Whisper formula to Japanese brand lipsticks from brands like Aube, Maquillage, and Coffret D’Or. They have such a lovely soft, melty consistency when applied.
If you’re a fan of the Color Whisper Collection I’m sure Pop of Poppy will be on your wish list. It does have a little hiccup of two with the formula but still manages to create a lovely, natural Summer pink lip look!
Likey!
