Maybelline Sunwashed Sky Color Tattoo Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

Maybelline Sunwashed Sky Color Tattoo Eyeshadow

Maybelline Sunwashed Sky Color Tattoo Eyeshadow is one of two repromoted and renamed limited edition Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows released with the Maybelline Bleached Neons Summer 2014 Collection.

If you already own the Cool Crush Color Tattoo Eyeshadow which was released as a limited edition shade for Summer 2013 you likely won’t need Sunwashed Sky because it’s simply the same color but renamed for Summer 2014.

Take a look below as I do comparison swatches between Sunwashed Sky and Cool Crush and you’ll see what I mean!

I hope as we head deeper into Summer 2014 that Maybelline might consider launching more new Color Tattoo Eyeshadows as I’ll be the first to admit repromoting and renaming shades was a disappointment for me. It’s ok to repromote shades as it gives those who didn’t originally get the chance to purchase them a shot at grabbing them up. However, renaming and repromoting a shade as new when in fact it is old under a new name is terribly confusing.

Cool Crush originally launched in Summer 2013 and Sunwwashed Sky is merely a duplication of the color under a new name.

Last year, the eight shades that launched had a duochrome color switching effect but I felt like Cool Crush applied as a solid shade as does Sunwashed Sky. In the pot it reflects a lighter blue with purple and silver but it applies as an icy cool blue on my eyes without any purple or silver. I’ve likened it to the Bobbi Brown Iced Blue Long Wear Eyeshadow Stick in my prior review. It’s almost metallic but looks very frosty and shimmery on my eyes.

It has a very slippery formula that applies unevenly on my lids and patchy. It takes a good while to set which gives you plenty of time to work but the slow set also means it creases fairly fast. I get around for hours of wear without it before it creases.

Sunwashed Sky is not only a dupe for last year’s Cool Crush but the formula hasn’t changed either!

It’s available now at Harmons or you it’ll be more widely available at drugstores in June.

Anyone own it?

I hate when companies do that!

Side Note: I’ve been reading rave reviews about the ELF smudge pots. Apparently they’re every bit as good as the color tattoos with a $2 price tag.

    Have a great day!
