NYX Chunky Dunk Hydrating Lippie Review & Swatches

NYX Chunky Dunk Hydrating Lippie

NYX Chunky Dunk Hydrating Lippie ($6) just launched for Spring 2014 in twelve sheer and lovely shades. I’m overjoyed NYX Cosmetics decided to dip their toes in the chubby, chunky pencil world as I really have not gotten my fill of this fabulous trend.

These are light, sheer, and perfect for Spring and Summer lip looks! They happen to be the lightest formula I’ve tried in the chubby pencil world which makes them a brilliant pick up. And hey, loving that beauty on a budget $6 price tag too!

If you’re comparing NYX Chunky Dunk Hydrating Lippie to any of the popular pencils out there at the moment such as Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm, Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm, Tarte Lipsurgence Pencils, etc…I’d say that NYX tops the charts in the lightweight department. This isn’t really a balmy texture but has more of a smoother satiny feel on lips that’s very lightweight. They aren’t really incredibly hydrating in all honesty but they aren’t sucking moisture from my lips either which is a plus.

They are a twist up design so no sharpener is needed with these. They are fragrance and flavor free. They build decently but from what I’ve seen from the two colors I tried they are fairly sheer, sheerer even than Clinique’s version so expect natural color but not a ton of it. I don’t think the lack of color bothers me because each shade looks very natural and pretty but not overly bold or dramatic which is fine by me as I have plenty of chubby pencils that are fairly pigmented so this is a refreshing change from the norm. Wear time is a bit short at around two to three hours without eating or drinking but hey, they travel well so reapplying is easy enough!

NYX Chunky Dunk Hydrating Lippie are super cheap, super lightweight, and give my lips just the right amount of tint! I like these! Sure, I have a slew of chubby pencils but these are a very welcome addition to my collection. I’ll be purchasing more.

I love the names on these! I saw one on Aquaheart’s blog that was called “Pomegranate Margarita”… makes me want a drink. 🙂 Rum Punch is gorgeous on you!

I’ve debated picking up a few of these. Glad to know you like them!

go for it! they are nice and light and give a hint of pretty color 😀

I bought two of them, Orange Splash and Pomegranate Margarita, and I have to say I’m not impressed. I was really hoping for pigmentation, such as the new Revlon Sticks, but, these let me down.

I don’t mind Lucy as I have quite a few pigmented chubby lip sticks so these were a nice refreshing change 😀

I love Nyx and their naming themes for their products. I’m just afraid if I try these out I’ll want to have ALL of them, like the rest of their lip stuff.
