Sephora Pantone Gazing Paint Liquid EyeLiner 1

I bet in another life Sephora Pantone Gazing Paint Liquid EyeLiner would have made an excellent cream eyeshadow….but unfortunately as an eyeliner, well, it just doesn’t cut it.

According to Sephora this is a metallic finish but I must have missed something because this is all cream baby!

Sephora Pantone Gazing Paint Liquid EyeLiner is a limited edition product that launched with the Sephora Pantone Universe Radiant Orchard Collection for Spring 2014.

This is unusual color to wear as an eyeliner and I imagine if you can rock it you’re good to go. I look a little unusual in it…! The color isn’t quite orchid but more of a pinky mauve. If it had a metallic finish it would likely wear considerably better across a variety of skin tones but it’s more of a milky cream pink which probably won’t work for many. You can use it as an eyeshadow if you wanna multitask with it or maybe purchased it and happen to be struggling to use it as an eyeliner. It actually looks way nicer as an eyeshadow than a liner in my experience with it.

I don’t really love the formula. It’s quite thick and it takes a good minute before it sets. It doesn’t smudge once it dries down however, I felt like it peeled off a bit at the edges after a few hours of wear.

Overall, I’m not really sure you need Sephora Pantone Gazing Paint Liquid EyeLiner unless it goes on sale! The formula is iffy in my opinion and the shade might disappoint if you go by Sephora’s description of it being metallic!

It’s available now at Sephora and Sephora.com.

Oh I know what you mean, Muse. I was so excited to see the promo pictures because it sounded very neat–a metallic orchid liner!–but the creamy mauve color was definitely a let-down. When I tested it out at the store and mentioned that I thought it was supposed to be metallic, the salesperson was like, nope, I don’t think so. 🙁

I think the problem is also that it’s a tad light in color. If it was a deeper shade, it would work better as a liner, but as such, I find myself only wearing it as a thin strip overtop of my black liner. It’s just not a shade that looks good against my very fair olive complexion. Bummer!

Buuuut…if you want an orchid liner, head on over to Lime Crime. It’s not metallic, but it’s very pretty!

boohoo 🙁 agreed! it’s really milky! I just used it as all over shadow..bc def can’t use as a liner unfortunately! thanks! will check it out 😀

I think I would look like a pink eyed bunny if I wore this as an eyeliner!

Hi Muse! I got it bec. I got the artistry set. And I’d have to say, I hate it. If I could return it, I would. I hate the formula and the color is cute, but a bad choice for eyeliner.

    • Isabella Muse

mmm true..I imagine someone out there can use it creatively in an awesome look but I think a majority of people will feel overwhelmed by the shade..it’s just hard to wear!

      • ChrissieK

I would be interested in seeing someone get creative with it. I tried and failed 🙁

        • Isabella Muse

dont’ feel bad so did I! did you try as a cream shadow of sorts? that kinda works 🙂

          • ChrissieK

No I haven’t. But I will try it. Thanks my awesome Muse! Other than that, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cream blush that came with the artistry set. And the lippie and the highlighter.

aw my pleasure 😀 I WANT that cream blush 😀 someone sell that separately dammit!

I had this shipped immediately when it was released. I was so excited. When it arrived, it was not orchid, but mauve.
I wore it ONE day, for not even 8 hours. When i removed it, there was a sore red line on each eyelid where the liner had been.
I awoke 3 hours later with eyes stuck shut, and swollen like 2 golfballs! It was awful, and it seemed like i was getting pink eye!

Needless to say, I returned it immediately.
And of course, no one else had had the problem.

It was a shame, as it was so pretty.

I get a milder version of that problem if I put almost any purple liner on my water line. Not with black, not with brown, not with green or blue, but purples cause my eyes to get a little redder and owwy, and do the slight glue-y thing when I wake up. I’m crazy though, so I still will wear them on occasions I know I’ll be photographed they make my dark brown eyes pop.

OMG thanks for the warning! I get that reaction from some pinks, and I have the liner from the Artisan Set, too! I haven’t tried it yet and with that warning from you, I’m not going to! I can’t use anything with carmine in it around my eyes and the liner must have carmine in it. Sorry you had to find out the bad way but thank you for sparing me from finding out the bad way. And FYI in the future, avoid using anything with carmine around your eyes and you should be ok.

      • Kellie

Thank you so much for that info about Carmine! That was such a bad reaction!
And it was meant to be metallic?
Not a bit of metallic. I saw the face illuminator when i returned the liner. There was almost no color to it-it was like a sparkley overlay.

I am so glad i got just the twist up glossy lip orchid. That seems to be a good choice for me!

  • breyerchic04

I’m glad I skipped the $75 collection! I wanted this and the liquid illuminizer but I don’t think either perform quite as well as they should.

    • Kellie

The illuminizer was just a bery sheer wash of sparkley metallic looking sparkle. No color at all. I was dissapointed, as imhad almost bought the 75$ kit!

I agree with all of your assessments Muse: there is no shimmer to be found and the formula is weird making application a bit difficult. I’m not sure why this is: I thought it was the applicator but maybe you’re right, maybe it’s the formula being a bit thick and chalky. I do like the color though. I have green eyes and boy does this color make them pop! It wears pretty well as long as my eyes don’t tear and I don’t rub them. And I can avoid the lab rabbit pink eye effect if I use the proper eye shadow and plenty of mascara. I can see how it would definitely not work on all eye colors though.

    • Isabella Muse

the applicator doesn’t help but the formula is also to blame as it’s like applying a cream shadow with a big old floppy brush! Mess! I don’t doubt it looks incredible on you! I think certain folks can rock it! The only way it’s wearable for me is as an all overshadow but not as a liner! thanks for sharing JCz helpful for those wanting to buy it but feel unsure about the purchase 😀

I actually really like that shade, but with the formula issues, I definitely will just keep an eye out for it when clearance season hits.

I know Physicians Formula tends to put nice orchids in their eyeliner sets for Hazel eyes, though it’s more of a traditional orchid that leans a little pinker than “Radiant Orchid.” I wear that shade of theirs in the automatic pencil a lot!
