Black Radiance Ice Angel Refreshing Lip Gloss Review & Swatches

Black Radiance Ice Angel Refreshing Lipgloss

Loving Illamasqua Touch Intense Lipgloss but not the price? Give Black Radiance Ice Angel Refreshing Lip Gloss in Scarlett a try at a mere $2.99.

It’s not an exact dupe mind you but it comes close plus it looks like liquid metal on lips! Yes please, bring that lip drama!

Black Radiance Ice Angel Refreshing Lip Gloss s a thinly textured peppermint flavored and fragranced lipgloss with a high shine and a metallic finish. Apparently the mint helps keep your breath fresh…shrug! It tastes nice that much is true!

This little three dollar lipgloss packs the pigment of a full coverage liquid lipstick! I find the texture wears very comfortably without being tacky or sticky. A single layer is opaque but I find two applications give the gloss sizzle and pop it lacks with one. I can get a solid four hours of wear from it before it fades and leaves a slight staining effect behind.

Scarlett is a gorgeous garnet red that really reminds me of Illamasqua’s touch shade but it’s a bit richer in color.

I will rant about a few things though…

This has a small precise brush for application that’s very dense. It really doesn’t bend well so I find the texture is a little hard on my lips and it makes application a little difficult with no give to the bristles. I understand why they did this as lip brushes tend to have issues with split bristles and get very messy but the brush is a bit of a pain none the less.

Secondly, this goes for all Black Radiance Lipgloss products, PLEASE STOP with the TERRIBLE stickers! They seal the packaging with a wrap around stick but it’s impossible to remove and when you do get it to remove it leaves a sticky mess all around the tube. It’s awful! Get some new stickers to seal your gloss with because this isn’t working for me.

Overall, rants aside, Black Radiance Ice Angel Refreshing Lip Gloss is a total win for me! I’ll buy more! You can’t afford not to at this price as the pigment is crazy and really it looks like I’m wearing $30 lipgloss on my mouth and it only costs me $3!

LOL Muse! I feel ya on both those stickers and that stupid brush. I hate that sticky residue and I end up using alcohol or sometimes nail polish remover to get it off. It feels so gross and it collects dust and hair. Ewwww.

Lipgloss with brush applicators are a deal breaker for me. They never apply smoothly, just push the gloss around and it always looks streaky. Doefoot or I’m out. Buuuuut, for a mere $3 I may be willing to forego my ban. $3 I can deal with, but Nars?? No way. This color is really gorgeous and I have a supply of extra doefoot applicators I bought from the beauty supply. Maybe I’ll just use those to apply. Thanks for reviewing this! Have a great weekend!

ugh angel the sticks drive me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and yup dust, hair, and everything else! I can deal with the lip brush, I’ve actually grown to like them in my old age, but I totally understand your hate! My pleasure dear and happy Monday!

  • Claudia Weidman

Love this color. Where can you find Black Radiance products?

    • Isabella Muse

      rite aid, drugstore.com, target.com, walgreens, etc 🙂

  • Majick

Wow, nice! I have a suggestion about the bristles. I had a lip brush once that was the same way. I pushed it into my finger and the bristles actually broke apart into a more usable brush. It was almost like they put something on the bristles just to get them in the product without getting weird? I don’t know, but for 2.99 you don’t have much to lose and you may get a more workable brush.

And, the best stuff for getting sticky label glue off is a citrus stuff I get at staples. I think it’s called glue be gone or maybe that’s just what I named it. LOL also if you have any Avon Skin so soft that will do it too. Or, you can try a little DHC clensing oil but I don’t think that will be oily enough to remove the residue. Hope I gave you a few helpful hints. Goddess knows you’ve given me a few!

    • Isabella Muse

I did that too and they do become softer but they are still very dense none the less but hey, for 2.99 like you said who cares!? 😀 thanks Majick they are very helpful!!! aww I sure hope I have 😀

  • Pam

Wow, that’s impressive with that price! The color is very pretty too. Might have to check them out.

It’s a terrible shame about the sticker leaving sticky residue on the tube – I hate that…

  • Susan K

Black Opal has some killer lipglosses too. Both lines have some real winners. You just don’t hear a lot about them!

  • cat

Where did you find this, Muse? I never find very well stocked Black Radiance displays. Also, I keep getting Black Radiance and Black Opal confused and I can never find the one I’m looking for when I actually want something from the brand.

    • Isabella Muse

I got it at rite aid cat. plus tons of stores online carry black radiance including drugstore.com I believe. Hope this helps!

      • cat

Thanks, muse. Rite Aid is always a (not a very nice word) for me in the city. The ones I check are usually not well-stocked and a lot of the products have been opened and swatched/tested. I’ve definitely taken to buying more lippies online in particular so I might check out future Black Radiance products on drugstore.com though I hate that they raised the free shipping requirement.

  • Arzu Gunther

This is a pretty color on you. Will have to pick this up. Hope you are having a great weekend! 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks chica 😀 it was wonderful hope yours was lovely!

  • kellly

    Wow, that really looks great!
Almost any type of oil and a lot of elbow grease will usually remove that sticky residue stuff, but I agree, wish they wouldn’t use that kind of stuff. There’s a Walgreens store I sometimes shop at that puts those anti-theft stickers with the wires in them onto their cosmetic products and those are nearly impossible to remove. If that store didn’t get new things in earlier than the rest in my area, I’d hardly ever shop there just because of those doggoned stupid stickers they use!

    • Isabella Muse

that’s absurd…what in the world!? There has to be a better way to secure products against theft!
