Covergirl + Olay Face Lift Effect Firming Foundation Review & Swatches

Covergirl + Olay Face Lift Effect Firming makeup

Covergirl let loose a slew of new products for Summer 2014 that includes this new Covergirl + Olay Face Lift Effect Firming Foundation.

Apparently it’s a face lift in a jar….

Does it work?

Covergirl + Olay Face Lift Effect Firming Makeup is apparently a firming foundation courtesy the injection of Olay Serum that acts to firm skin. Unfortunately I haven’t a clue how much serum is included in the foundation plus the jar packaging renders that serum useless…le sigh!

The good news is it’s a great foundation.

The bad news is the packaging won’t do you any favors at keeping whatever anti-aging benefits it provides fresh and useful. Equally bad news? The price tag! It’s a whooping $18! Drugstore foundation or any drugstore makeup should not be this expensive unless it applies itself to your face haha!

I can’t confirm but this might just be a revamped version of Covergirl + Olay Advanced Radiance Creme Makeup or heck even Covergirl TRUblend Whipped Foundation and Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation are similarly formulated with the same textures and are heaps cheaper.

Pricing aside I will say it’s beautifully formulated. It’s rich, creamy, and absorbs easily into skin. It provides sheer to medium coverage with a semi-matte finish that doesn’t cling to drier areas. The finish is completely flawless and my skin looks naturally airbrushed, brighter, and stunning after a small application. It’s fragrance-free and wears for a solid seven hours on my drier skin without fading or oxidizing.

Needless to say I like it. A lot. I think people will automatically assume it’s something like Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation. I said absolutely not! This is far more natural coverage with a breathable, lightweight texture.

Covergirl + Olay Face Lift Effect Firming Foundation is a great product. It wears long, it blends easily, it looks natural, and remains fresh wearing for a good long wear plus it’s incredibly lightweight and doesn’t produce shine or oily.

Unfortunately, it’s $18 price tag is a bit crazy! As I said above even if they included a ton of awesome anti-aging skincare in this foundation to warrant it’s high price tag the packaging renders most of that skincare useless!

Lovely foundation but Covergirl might want to reconsider that price!

Tried it?

Do share!

I purchased this item.

could this be any similar o UD Naked Foundation? if so $18 would be a steal! Either way im in, sounds like a nice summer foundation.

I want to try this, but not at that price. I like high end foundations, and not to sound stuck up but have never been impressed by the quality offered by the drugstore. One of the reasons being you can’t try it on before you buy, which is like throwing your money away if you don’t like it.

I too checked this product out not too long ago. I think it will not appeal so much to your younger ages 18-35 crowd, but there is certainly a market for it for guests 35+. If a women can skip a step in her skin care regimen, I believe they will take it! Although, personally I would still use my olay serum and just use this as a facial boost! Plus olay/covergirl always offer lots of coupons in the newspaper. The price might be high to some people, but it’s the quality of ingredients used (in this case).

    • Isabella Muse

problem is those ingredients are useless in a jar packaging Christine so you’re wasting money 🙁

  • Jessica

This product looks very intriguing! Why do you think the jar packaging makes the ingredients useless?

    • Isabella Muse

air gets into it each time you open it, you might be touching it with your fingers, the jar is clear, etc…

  • Dee

Not sure I’ll try, although it does sound like a good foundation for summer. I’ve never had luck finding the right shade without a tester and it seems the Olay ones are lighter than they appear in the bottle. The only drugstore foundation I’ve ever had luck with is Boots No 7. Have you ever tried those?

    • Isabella Muse

I’ve never tried any of Boots foundations! Tons of the makeup but never the foundation! Def something I should experience at some point 🙂

  • mindy

hey musekin, sounds good, always on the prowl for a better foundation (at the drugstore sigh)but if you look at the jar from my perspective it looks like all glass and a smidgeon of product aye?

    • Isabella Muse

you can probably use the 1 oz for a year and never hit bottom Mindy. A little goes a long way in my opinion unless you really pack on foundation 🙂

      • mindy

Musekin, thanx for that info, I’m a minimalist with makeup, maybe worth the bucks then!?!?!

  • Donna

Sounds like something I may like for my 63 year old skin. I figure they will have coupons and sales on it, so I’ll wait til then 🙂 My favs are Laura Mercier and Dior.

  • Lisa Marie

I had a coupon for this and it was on sale so I snatched it up for a whopping 10 bucks. I LOVE this stuff. It is not at all like olay radiance foundation I have nor the whipped TruBlend from before. This is a whole new beast! I am 39 years old, have combo skin that leans a little extra oily in the t zone. I have obvious smile lines around my eyes and larger pores. This looks seamless and natural and is a “demi-matte” on me. I stays perfect for a LONG time; through heat, riding motorcycle, being on the phone etc. I like it better than the high end foundations I own. I think it the coverage reminds me of my Tarte amazonian clay foundation. This seems more realistic while still giving a medium to full coverage.

    • Isabella Muse

awesome Lisa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy to hear you love and you got it at such a steal! I paid $18 and winced a bit…but I agree it is fab stuff and on sale even better imho!

  • Rita

I tried this new foundation. I really like it quite a bit. The only negative for me was getting a good color match. I have light olive undertones, and all the color selections in this line seem to be pinky beige, but the foundation blended well, and seems to work for me.
I do wish more color selections were available.
I love that it provides sheer, radiant coverage and makes my skin look amazing.
Yes, it’s pricey for drugstore brand, but far less expensive than my department store brand, so I’m okay with it. Plus, Walgreens was offering a BOGO, so I was able to get two and save 1/2 on the 2nd one.

  • Wendy

I got this (and the undereye concealer) the other day and tried it out. I thought the foundation applies very nicely. Feels really smooth and absorbs fast, but it emphasized some of the dry spots on my face. Have to agree that the price tag is too steep, and wish it was in a pump instead of a jar.

  • stevee

Something with this foundation just does not work for me. It wouldn’t really absorb into my skin. I could feel that there was foundation on my skin which is weird because i typically wear full coverage and I’ve never had this issue with them. It also left my skin sticky to touch and it still was hours later.

  • Jessica

I love this foundation! Rite-Aid just had a sale and it was 14.49! I did find it messy when I
opened it, but since I use a brush to apply, I find the pot-style container just fine. I was concerned that the color I got was too dark, when I first began applying it, but it absorbed and blended so beautifully, that the match was perfect. It is radiant, flawless coverage, while feeling light and looking natural. I was a fan of True Match, and a Covergirl whipped foundation that has since been discontinued. By far the best I’ve tried in the recent past!

I need to know what the ingredients I’m very allergic to dimethcone ? Please send me a e-mail and let me know I use the aqua foundation now and like it very much. I would like to try this one, but need to know the ingredients. Thanks

I just found this makeup half price on the CVS winter clearance sale. I love it and the coverage is wonderful.
