Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer Review & Swatches

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer 1

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer is one of several new products that launched for Summer 2014 featuring Katy Perry as the model for the collection entitled Covergirl #InstaGlam.

Marketing on the Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer as well as other products in this collection seem to be targeting a younger demographic than myself and after trying the concealer I’d say this is more for a teenager perhaps or an early twenty consumer.

Take a look!

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer is an oil free concealer which is formulated to conceal dark circles and other imperfections according to the brand. This comes in a plastic tube with an attached sponge applicator for dabbing on.

The formula itself is actually really good. I’ve tried many concealers like this from the drugstore and most are terribly dry. This has a very creamy yet lightweight texture that isn’t dry and feels quite hydrating on skin. It’s also very, very easy to blend out. I was very impressed with the consistency of this concealer!

The problem for me is it happens to be very sheer thus better suited for someone younger who isn’t quite yet struggling with tired, finely lined eyes. This does brighten very nicely but if you have fine lines, puffiness, and super dark circles it won’t conceal these issues as it isn’t terribly pigmented and once applied it does sheer away as you blend. The wear time I can’t really determine since it is sheerer but the brightening effects wears off at around four hours for me so that could be a good determination of the wear time!

If I get in plenty of sleep this is a nice weekend concealer when I don’t need a ton of cover up. But really most days of my life I’m working on five hours sleep and need more concealing power than this is giving me! They did a wonderful job with the Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer formula but a little more pigment wouldn’t have gone unnoticed. If you don’t have a ton to conceal and desire a moist, easy to apply, and lightweight concealer I’d suggest checking this out.

Available now at drugstores.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. OH MY GOSH, MUSE.
Have you seen that L’Oreal has “Manga Mascara” now?
    …For five bucks I couldn’t resist.

I feel like CoverGirl products are made for tweens, well at least for most of them. They do have some good products but for the most part I never touch anything else besides their mascaras.

I’ve noticed quite a few new products from Covergirl lately but I haven’t picked up one because I think the packaging is HORRIBLE. It all looks really cheap, tacky, and makes me feel ancient. I can’t believe that CG considers the early 90’s to be “retro.” Scenes from “Blossom” pop into my head when I look at this makeup. They really seem to be gearing all their products to tweens and teens, so I’ll pass.

As a teenager, I’m not sure who they’re marketing this too because a SHEER concealer isn’t going to work on anyone in my high school, literally my dark circles are PURPLE like as in it looks like I have black eyes all the time, I’m anywhere from NC 15-20 but don’t quote me on it, from the amount of stress and work I’m under from upcoming regents to college preparations and I’m only a sophomore! If they want something to sell make sure its a full coverage concealer.
