MAC Maleficent True Love’s Kiss Lipstick is a limited edition, new shade of bright red lipstick that launched recently with the new MAC Maleficent Collection inspired by the new Disney movie.
MAC’s been on a role lately with red lipsticks so I was quite excited about this shade.
Let’s take a look!
Maleficent’s lipstick in the Disney cartoon was considerably tamer than the live action movie’s version. MAC calls it a clean bright red but too me it feels like a maroon red with warmer undertones. It’s a weird lipstick because the color seems to morph and it will likely be a shade that will vary in looks from skin tone to skin tone. It did kinda remind me of Maybelline Infra-Red which released last Spring in the Color Sensational Vivid Lipstick Collection.
This is Amplified finish but it feels way more moisturizing compared to other Amplified Lipsticks I’ve tried from MAC in the past. It applies opaque in two applications. And has a strong lasting, vibrant pigment that wears for five to six hours on my mouth and leaves a staining effect behind as it fades. It didn’t dry my lips out but wasn’t terribly hydrating either. It’s vanilla scented and flavored per the MAC’s traditional flavor. The color wore very strong for me without migrating which is rare with reds. I tend to have a knack for wearing red all over my face as it tends to creep on my upper lip etc…this didn’t feather or migrate nor did it make my lips dry through the wear.
MAC Maleficent True Love’s Kiss Lipstick Swatches
The packaging is pretty basic….I wish they went a little more luxe and glam with the Maleficent packaging but they went basic. It’s a simple black lacquer tube with a set of sinister wing’s embracing the Maleficent and MAC logo.
MAC Maleficent True Love’s Kiss Lipstick has disappointing packaging but the color and formula more than make up for that. This is beautiful red lipstick with an excellent long wearing formula. I can’t see a reason you wouldn’t want to indulge.
