MAC Maleficent Beauty Powder

MAC Natural Beauty Powder ($30) is a new, limited edition Beauty Powder that will be popping up with the MAC Maleficent Collection later this Summer.

It comes housed in a black lacquered case with a set of devious wings embracing the Disney Maleficent logo. I’m not really sure how I feel about the packaging as of yet! I know the MAC Maleficent Collection on a whole failed to excite me and I might just feel the same about the packaging as well. It’s a bit uneventful….? It does however, have that movie tie in vibe which could be considered incredible if you’re a massive fan of the movie or it could be too much of a sell out for those who aren’t really into the film and more about cartoon version of Maleficent.

The good news is that the powder is lovely and worth a haul for those who do a good deal of contouring work or those wanting a multitasking highlighter slash facial powder.

MAC Natural Beauty Powder Maleficent

MAC Natural Beauty Powder is a soft beige powder with a smooth, silky feel and a hint of pale pink. It has a hint of golden shimmer there’s barely visible. The shade looks almost like a pastel washed out peach to me. It’s very flattering on my medium fair skin and works great as a face powder should I want to use it all over. I personally take an eyeshadow blending brush, swirl it in the powder, and stroke it under my eye sockets and down the sides of my nose to brighten up my face.

MAC Beauty Powder is one of those versatile products, depending on the shade, that works as a face powder, blush, highlighter, etc…in the case of Natural Beauty it works great as a highlighter, for contouring under eyes, and even as a finioshing powder of sorts. It’s a bit too sheer to act as a blush in my opinion and a bit too light for darker or tanned skin that want to use it for a finishing powder as it could go pasty but as a highlighter it works a treat!

I’d suggesting dusting it on but not applying heavily if you aren’t fair. I used it down the side of my nose, at the tops of my cheek bones just right at my eye sockets, and this gave me a nice brightness without looking like a disco ball!

The powder itself is lovely but I wouldn’t say it’s something that reminds me of Maleficent….! Obviously Angelina Jolie is a far more elegant Maleficent than we know but even with her makeup as in the movie I wouldn’t say Natural Beauty Powder was something that they used to create her look.

But makeup especially MAC makeup is all about imagination so I’m sure you can find a place in your devilish look for MAC Natural Beauty Powder even if it is a bit innocent looking.

It’ll be available shortly along with the rest of the MAC Maleficent Makeup Collection.

This might work for me as a powder compact to carry in my makeup bag. But does it come with anything to apply it?

Not sure how it would look on my olive colored skin. it looks really pretty.

I’m a sucker for Maleficent! *head desk* I ordered the finishing powder and lipstick and figured that the quad/polishes will be at the CCO eventually.

Is it too chalky or shimmery to use as an all over face powder? How will this shade fare on NC15-20 skin? Love your site 🙂

hi maggie, I explained the finish in the post and how you can use it. Hope this helps! I also explained how it would work on fairer skin and medium/darker 🙂 Thanks glad you enjoy Musings!

Such a disappointing packaging to me.
I was expecting something more impactant, more unique.
Some velvelty dark purple cases or more luxurious.
Nothing about the packaging says Maleficent to me. The quality of the products seem nice though. The choose of sculpt powder, this beauty powder and the red lipstick was a great job.

I was excited to have my first Beauty Powder from MAC and I got it! The color is beautiful: a pale, cool-toned, peachy-pink. I’m fair enough that it works as an allover face powder on no-maekup makeup days or as a finishing powder on full makeup days. This product is definitely a beautiful highlighter. Even with my paleness, I still have to pack it on for it to work as a blusher, and even then, it will still be a very ‘lite’ blusher look. Unfortunately I have to say that the packaging is slightly subpar in the fact that I’ve only had my MAC Maleficent Beauty Powder in Natural for two months and the words ‘Disney’ and ‘MAC’ have already rubbed off the front of the compact. Maybe I shouldn’t have been carrying it around in my purse so much, or maybe MAC should have embossed it instead of opting for cheap packaging. Regardless, I’ll be keeping my compact in its box from now on because I’m not taking any chance of the most important word of all: “Maleficent” rubbing off the the front of the compact either.

I thought this was going to be a highlighter-type product, but it does NOTHING. It’s the same color as my skin, but isn’t all that pigmented, and has nearly no sparkle. It’s okay-ish as a finishing powder, but doesn’t do a great job of setting. Super disappointed
