Makeup & Beauty

We all have that list! You know the one! The Makeup & Beauty I’d Simply Die Without list! What would happen if your favorite foundation was discontinued? Or that amazing lipstick shade that makes your lips look incredibly brilliant? Or a moisturizer that makes your skin literally glow?

Yes, indeed, we all have a list of makeup, skincare, beauty, and even tools and brushes that would simply can’t live without. Those everyday staple products that we use daily and that we’d mourn over if we could no longer get them!

Here are some Makeup & Beauty I’d simply die without!

Maybe someone of the products I use daily are favs of yours too!

Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream (Review) and Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid (Review)
These are two of my VERY favorite skincare products that I would not want to be without! I have drier, duller skin and using these together in the Winter keep my skin super soft, super hydrated, smooth, refined, flake-free, and completely youthful look as well as brighter thanks to the serious injection of moisture both provide. If you have issues with drier, duller skin give Dr Jart a week and he’ll make you rethink any issue you’ve had with your dry skin in the past. These two products have been game changing for me!

Sana Hadanomy Collagen Mist
You never truly appreciate a product until you run out of it. Sana Hadanomy Collagen Mist is just that type of product. I’ve gotten so used to misting my face with it daily and using it every single night and morning that when I did run out I realize, “Holy cow! I need to grab more as soon as possible!” I think I’m on my 20th bottle by now as I use this stuff daily. It’s highly moisturizing and one of the very best facial mists I’ve had the pleasure of using! It’s a perfect prep prior to using any other skincare and if you have dry skin it is an absolute must have!

Dr Denese Hydroshield Eye Serum

Issues with super dry eyes? Hydroshield Eye Serum is a must have! This serum is loaded with antioxidants, ceramides, retinol, and fatty acids! It’s super moisturizing yet dries down to a matte finish. I use it prior to eye cream and it is life changing for drier, finely lined eyes as it eases finer lines due to dryness!

Dr Denese HydroShield Eye Serum

Mizon Kings Berry Aqua Drink Toner

This MASSIVELY sized toner is a thicker consistency essence that can be swiped or patted on face prior to moisturizer to inject skin with super moisture. Not only does it provide moisture but helps skin to retain it as well!

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer

If you need pigmented concealer It Cosmetics has you covered with their super concentrated Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. This is the most pigmented concealer you’ll run across and offers coverage for the most darkest circles. It’s thick, super creamy, emollient, and will hide just about anything you throw at it!

Benefit Lemon Aid

Don’t forget your lids! Benefit Lemon Aid has been a staple product that I’ve used daily for over ten years. If they ever discontinue it I’ll have to buy a case or three to get me through this lifetime! This mellow yellow cream is for use on your lids. I typically pat it onto my lids prior to concealing under my eyes and it brightens up my ENTIRE face and eye area! Whether I’m wearing eye makeup or I’m not, my day makeup application starts with Lemon Aid!

Em The Great Cover Up Concealer

If Bye Bye Concealer is a little too heavy for you might I introduce you to Em’s Great Cover Up! I was actually delighted when I tried this late last year. Lightweight, super creamy, very hydrating, and with excellent coverage this concealer is an unsung hero that deserves a spot in your concealer wardrobe!

Em The Great Cover Up Concealer

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Don’t let anyone tell you different! Shu is still the best eyelash curler around in my humblest. No pinch, simply beautifully curled lashes!

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

3 Lab BB Cream
It’s expensive but 3 Lab’s BB Cream is one of the best US released BB Creams I’ve tried. Creamy, brilliant coverage, and flawless long wearing coverage make it one of my fav concealers!

3 Lab Perfect BB Cream

Dior Snow BB Cream
It brightens, isn’t that enough? No but seriously if you’re looking for brighter skin, creamy coverage with a flawless look Dior Snow BB Cream is the way to go kids!

Philosophy Miracle Worker Dark Spot Corrector
Seeing spots? Dark ones? Marker Worker Dark Spot Corrector won’t only fade them but also brightens out your entire skin tone. Of course, it does require patience and diligent use but it happens to be a staple product I use nightly to keep my skin look bright and happy!

Philosophy Miracle Worker Pads

Dull skin? Tired? Aging skin? A little of all three? Philosophy’s super gentle Miracle Worker Pads even out skin tone, brighten, and contain anti-aging ingredients to keep skin looking amazing. I use this nightly without a hiccup and blame them for my great looking skin!

Clinique Repair Wear Laser Focus Eye Cream
This little gem has become my favorite daily AM eye cream. It’s quite thick but it seems (or I could be imaging it!) to ease my fine lines like nothing else so my lines look softer and more hydrated. I don’t skip a day of use with it!

Revlon Photoready Primer
Revlon’s Photoready Primer is a lighter silicone facial primer that I absolutely adore. Typically cones make me itchy but this lightly textured creamy primer blurs the appearance of pores around my noses and perfects my entire face prior to foundation application.

Eve Lom Brilliant Cover Concealer

Eve Lom’s Concealer is a sleeper hit for me. At first I thought it was too expensive but after using it I finally figured out I’d probably pay twice the amount for it. Lightweight, creamy, easy to blend, and just the right amount of coverage this concealer is my under eye’s best friend!

Eve Lom Brilliant Cover Concealer

There are literally a zillion other items on my Makeup & Beauty I’d Simply Die Without list and these products are just scratching the surface but I hope you enjoyed my list and maybe you found some new products to try out!

If you tried any of these I’d love to hear your experience with them!

The one item I’d be at a loss for if it was discontinued is probably Wet n Wild eyeshadow single in Brulee. I’ve used it as a powder concealer ever since I started wearing makeup.

LEMONAAAAAAAAAAAAAID. Love it. Neosporin Lip Health Overnight Renewal Therapy is a very long name for a very wonderful lip moisturizer that I use every night. Haven’t had chapped lips since I started using it over a year ago. Also got my hubby’s lips through his recovery after sinus surgery. He had to be a mouth breather for several days and it saved his poor dry lippies.

  • Kenna

I love these kinds of posts! It really shows what you like out of everything you own (Which in your case, is a lot!) I would love to see more of these types of posts in the future! 🙂

  • Nat

For me it would be Soap & Glory’s body butter and Missha’s Wrinkle Filler BB cream. 😀

  • Alanna

hey muse, have you ever tried the Haba line from japan?? I’ve been using some of their line and I really love it! The combo of the white lady/fair lady (as its named in the US) and VC lotion has been incredibly brightening and has faded my acne scars a lot! I got samples of the g lotion too and I prefer that for the day because I have oily skin, but the VC lotion works a treat for at night along with the brightening squalene.

i would have a fit id they quit making mineral powder foundation !! once i discovered it, liquid anything ( foundation, bb, cc ) i cannot seeem to blend without my huge pores showing even with primer, oh & now i would die without primer, when primer 1st came out i thought to myself what another gimmick i was wrong…but of course there is more than just foundation, & i have a question ? i have been skeptical to buy lemon aid, i have heretitary dark circles & i own erase paste & its a lil too slippery for my liking, would u recommend this ?

  • Margaret Antil

Hey Muse! I’m asian with dark spots on my face, do you think Philosophy Miracle Worker Dark Spot Corrector will work for me?

  • Susannah

Philosophy’s Miracle Worker truly gets rid of under eye puffiness better than anything I have ever tried. It’s expensive, but I’ll cut back on other products to buy it. Worth every penny because it works.

Also love Roc’s serum. I only put it on at night because it is strong, especially for an over the counter product. It actually made a skin tag go away. Amazing!

Finally can’t do without either Clarin’s or Laura Mercier’s exfoliator. Both are superb products.

Love your graphic at the top!!! And of course your top picks 🙂

  • kimkats

Doggone it Muse! Now I have to have the Dr. Jart+ duo! I see sephora has a sorta trial size kit, so if my JCP doesn’t have it in stock, I will haz to order it!! you and I seem to be skin twins (which makes your recommendations ROCK for me!) so I can see that I must have this. I’d wait to get it til the weather gets cold again but it says it’s LE, so must… have…. it…. nao! 😀

    Happy Friday!

  • ashley

Thank you for this!!! I’ve been meaning to ask you for a list of your holy grails/must haves and this is perfect! are you a mind reader? lol

  • Jasmine

Agree with you on the shu curler! I got their S type curler and threw away the original one (because I wanted to try and also my old shu curler was dirty with mascara) and I regret it so much! Nt sure if I can’t work the S Curler, but I always pinch my lids!!! Owwww.

  • Christine

Hi! Could you do something like this, but with asian brands? And with asian skincare as well? 😀 I’ve been reading many of your reviews, and it would be fun to see the ones you “can’t live without”!

  • Quinctia

Skin79 Hot Pink BB cream and UD Primer Potion in Greed are my must-haves.

One of these two is already D/Ced. D: (Though, the rate I go through primer, I think the 3-4 backups I already have will last me a loooong time.)

  • Scy

    Thanks for these, Muse!

I find your reviews and opinions invaluable! Want to try the Miracle Worker pads and the Collagen spray! Yr fault 😉

Love it. Please keep it coming!

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure thank you for reading scy 🙂 glad you liked the post and I hope you try out the pads and spray 😀 they are fab!

  • Jacquie

    Hi Muse,
First of all, I love your blog! Second, as someone who is also obsessed with concealers, I was wondering if you have tried Mineral Fusion’s Duo Concealer? I have tried almost every brand of concealer and right now it is my HG concealer.
The Mineral Fusion Concealer is a duo palette that comes in two shades – a light one and darker one. You can use the two shades to blend to perfectly match your skin color, and/or you can use the light shade for the upper eyelids and the darker one to cover your dark circles. Color options include warm, cool, neutral and deep. I have both the warm and the neutral and can grt them both to match my skin color perfectly. I really like this concealer because it is moisturizing, easily blendable and provides great coverage.
By the way, I got it from Whole Foods but you can also get it on Amazon. Here is a link to it on Amazon
I highly recommend you try it! From reading your other concealer reviews, I agree with basically all of your favorite concealers and I really think that you will love it!

    • Isabella Muse

hi jacquie! thanks so much for your comment 🙂 so glad you enjoy Musings. I haven’t tried that one! I’ll have to give a whirl! I’m always in Whole Foods so I’ll def grab one up next trip thanks for the rec!

  • nakwon

I love the collagen spray not only for moisturizing before makeup application, but also if I get dry flaky patches after applying foundation by adding a spritz and patting it down to smooth away the flakiness. I have the entire line and I mostly use it because it’s the only thing that won’t irritate my skin while I’m using retina. <3 it a lot and I found it thanks to your recommendation.

    • Isabella Muse

same here nakwon! I get little dry patches myself and this works great to reduce those 😀

  • DW

Would have to be concealer. Even men are using concealer these days. Speaking of, concealer marketed to men is overpriced. Especially the limited color range offered to them.
