Milani Rose Powder Blush

I was quick to come to the defense of Milani reintroduction of their Rose Powder Blush but I have to admit Milani Lady Rouge Rose Powder Blush did disappoint slightly.

I’ve had hit and miss issues with the newer Milani Rose Blushes. Some are great but some are a bit too dry and bright and this falls true for Lady Rouge.

Take a peek!

Milani Lady Rouge Rose Powder Blush is one of four new, limited edition Rose Powder Blushes that launched this Spring. I’m starting to see more and more displays of these at Walgreens so now is a good as any to discuss them.

This is a matte finish blush with a dryer, dense texture. The dryness actually isn’t much of an issue or at least it hasn’t up until now. I thought Lady Rouge was a touch to difficult to work with. It’s a bit powdery and has a drier, almost chalky texture that applies patchy and proves difficult to blend out. It’s extremely pigmented and I think that’s one of the reasons I had issues. The incredible pigmentation and dryness come together to create a very poor blending experience so I end up with patchy, clown-y cheeks as I can’t sheer the shade out well no matter how hard I work at it. Even applies very minimally I find the shade is just too pigmented and requires a very heavy hand to blend it to the best finish possible. Beware you need only use a tiny amount as this one packs pigment majorly. I think if you spend the time and effort to blend it well it looks incredible. The color is smooth without clinging to drier areas and has a certain airbrushed appearance. However, it takes a lot of effort to get it applied and blended out correctly to obtain that look due to the over pigmentation and drier formula.

Overall, Milani Lady Rouge Rose Powder Blush wasn’t my favorite shade of the four releases due to the trouble I had blending it. If you have time and patience this one might be worthy of a pick up especially because the shade is truly gorgeous especially for Summer looks and over a tan! However, if you lack the patience this color can easily frustrate users and too much can look patchy and even clown-like if you aren’t careful!

I dont care for EXTREMELY pigmented blushes either because they can easily backfire. And trying to tone the color down is rather a messy job. Although the colors and rose detailing is to die for. I might buy one and just stare at it all day.. I am very OCD about “staring” at blushes. Lol

These look a lot like the Clinique cheek pops…what are your thoughts?

    • Isabella Muse

vastly different products Carson, def not the same formula, consistency, texture.

Wow,I am sooo glad that I read your review on this..it looks so tempting and I would have snatched it up in a heartbeat! I am all about the subtle blush, so this is definitely not for me. I had the same problems with some of their lipsticks. I mean you’d think that rich pigmentation would be a good thing, but its like their formula is off or something. Ps, you look fantastic with your summer glow!

    • Isabella Muse

totally agree, sometimes stuff can be too pigmented 😀 aw thanks!!!!!!

Glad to know these are finally showing up at Wags! I thought I somehow missed them, even though I’m always stalking my local drugstores. Probably will pick them up, despite the so so reviews. How was your vacay?

    • Isabella Muse

when they first launched didn’t see them anywhere but now I am seeing them all over the place Susan so you def have a good chance of scoring some of the shades are good some are a miss! varies from shade to shade. Excellent thank you for asking 😀

I’m actually kind of glad that I still haven’t seen these in stores because I’d still be tempted to get them despite the reviews. They’re just so pretty! Milani usually makes great blushes. Such a disappointment

Muse, you might want to apply using a fan brush. I had a makeover this weekend (Smashbox) and the artist used a fan brush for one of the colors. It was either blush or bronzer but she wanted a “very light application”. Just thought it might work with this particular Milani blush.

i tried but didn’t quite work out well! to dense of a powder and the delicate bristles of my fan brush didn’t pick color up!
