The Sand Eye Palettes are inspired by a sandy beach and feature a range of neutral eye shadows come in metallic, shimmer, sparkle, and matte finishes.

I think we can all agree that Bobbi’s latest eyeshadow palettes have been very sheer lately but the Sand Eyeshadow Palette does please with both a mix of pigmented and sheerer shades!

The matte shades do fall into the sheerer shade category and one or two have a dense texture but they apply quite nicely. I was worried they’d be dry and chalky but they blend out quite well. Blazing Star Sparkle is also quite sheer and works best applied on top of some of the matte shades as on its own it’s merely shimmer versus any real color pay off.

I had a little but of fall out with Gold Sparkle and the shade was a bit flaky in texture but it’s really quite stunning if you can forgive its quirks.

The other shades were all wonderful in texture and color pay off. I think Golden Copper Metallic which is a golden brown particularly stands out as a great shade as its smooth, creamy, and has excellent pigmentation.

The palette does feature a mismatch of textures, finishes, and formulas so there isn’t any one way to describe all the colors as they each have their own personality. Together I think they create some rather stunning eye looks!

Overall, if you’re a Bobbi fan I’m positive the Bobbi Brown Sand Eyeshadow Palette is a palette that will likely capture your heart! Just keep in mind this does contain quite a healthy dose of shimmer and the formulas aren’t always consistent but on a whole the palette is what I love about Bobbi Brown makeup so much! This brings back the quality I know from the brand!

When will you be showing swatches of the other one? The other BBrown palette with the green and blue and purple and pink, the funner one of the two in my opinion.

    • Isabella Muse

I’ll try to get to it shortly Ashley hopefully end of week to next week.

Thanx for the swatches, Muse!!! I couldn’t ANY swatched reviews on the internet so thank you for yours…and yes, I’m getting this palette. This takes me back to how good her palettes used to really be!!

The other palette with the blue and green sparkle colors was terrible compared to this palette. I went to Nordies yesterday and swatched both palettes. This one was good and the other one was so dry and sheer. The blue and green colors I couldn’t even get them to transfer color to my hand. Cheap. I am going to buy this palette though because almost all colors were good quality.

I haven’t tried the Surf one yet but that sounds bad 🙁 sorry to hear it! Le sigh!

By itself, the palette is like an 8-pan bouquet of sunshine and it is making beautiful color combinations.

In the context of recent BB palette releases, this is a little redundant.

Blazing Star was in the 2013 Navy & Nude, Gold was in the 2013 Old Hollywood, Pale Cream was in the 2014 Nectar & Nude, and Bikini Bronze here is very similar to the Candlelight Gold in the Old Hollywood as well. From the permanent collection: Pale Cream looks a lot like Bone, Frappe looks a lot like Beige, and Sand looks a lot like Toast. Saddle isn’t hard to come by anyways. Overall, the Sand palette is slightly pinky-peachier than those shades that have come before it.

I’m kinda on the fence about returning it since these colors look so much like the BB eyeshadows I already have. Then again, they’re all so freakin’ pretty together.
