Illamasqua Matte Veil Review & Swatches

Illamasqua Hydra Veil Rehydrating Gel Primer

Illamasqua Matte Veil is a new mattifying gel to prime skin, mattify it, and dissolve excess oil and shine while retaining moisture.

Illamasqua Hydra Veil Rehydrating Gel is one of my very favorite products for prepping my skin and I’m quite excited about Illamasqua Matte Veil especially since it arrives just in time for the warmer Summer months when my skin goes from dry to dull to shiny and oily!

I don’t technically have a full size Illamasqua Matte Veil so the photos used in this review are from my Illamasqua Hydra Veil Rehydrating Gel so you can get an idea of the packaging! I do however, have a very small sample of it which I was able to try, test, and swatches!

Illamasqua Matte Veil comes in a black jar with a dual lid closure to ensure it’s freshness as well as a tiny scoop/spatula to remove product from the jar.

As a very, very big fan of Urban Decay De-slick in a Tube I’m happy to report that Illamasqua Matte Veil works just as GREATLY!

Illamasqua Matte Veil uses Butyelene Glycol to dissolve excess oil and allows your skin to remain shine free. It’s actually created to maintain moisture as well but if you have drier skin you’ll notice a very slight tightening when using this due to the alcohol in the formula. It isn’t an unpleasant dryness but it does produce some dryness! I think the Sunday Girl explained it best when she said that drier skin won’t feel uncomfortably tight or to matte with this in place. I actually have quite dry skin in the Winter but my skin becomes fairly combo in the Summer with my T-Zone have a good bit of oil and shine. This matties those areas very nicely and has a gel-like watery texture that absorbs easily into skin so it works well under makeup.

I wouldn’t call this a primer….it’s more of a treatment of sorts. You can of course, use primer over it. I typically apply it, allow it a few seconds to set (it’s dewy at first but dries down to a matte finish), and apply primer on top and follow-up with my BB Cream and other makeup.

If you suffer from excess oil and shine Illamasqua Matte Veil is an idea product to keep comfortably matte with a lightweight formula that won’t disturb drier skin.

This is one of those products that makes you realize how excellently formulated Illamasqua products are. They really are a very impressive brand and the Matte Veil is a great showcase for their innovative products.

I like this one, a lot and do recommend it for a pick up!

This sounds amazing for oily skin! I know I like the hydra veil for when I’m super dry.

I just bought this product and I can tell you that it was worth every penny. My skin looks amazing! Now, that may also be due to the fact that I’m wearing Illamasqua powder foundation!! The matte veil goes on beautifully over my SPF and dries quickly so I don’t have to wait in the morning before completing my makeup. Now I will say this: I still blot, because I’m super oily, but in between blottings I am so amazed by how great my skin looks. And this product is NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS, YAY!! (I think I’m going to buy every single Illamasqua product that exists)…

Sounds perfect for my very oily skin, although Illamasqua isn’t available in my country :/
