Lunasol W Lighting Eyes Review & Swatches
Lunasol is celebrating 15 years this year and to celebrate they launched W Lighting Eyes Eyeshadow! Lunasol W Lighting Eyes is a new, limited single eyeshadow available in three shades that launches with the Lunasol 15th Anniversay Summer 2014 Collection.
I was quite eager to get my hands on the shade EX03 as it’s a very pretty beige and coral combo.
Let’s take a look!
Lunasol W Lighting Eyes is a dual color eyeshadow that features brilliant pearl pigment that gives eyes a shimmery finish with a sheer wash of color. They can be used alone or over your favorite shadow shade to add shimmer.
I have to be very realistic about the Lunasol W Lighting Eyes Eyeshadow because one part of me wants to gush, gush, gush but the other part of me realizes they are very, very expensive for what you get.
Lunasol W Lighting Eyes (Shade: EX03 From top to bottom: With overspray, after overspray)
Lunasol W Lighting Eyes Swatches (Beige, Coral, and the last swatch is actually the swatch with the 15th Anniversary over spray! As you can see with that over spray it’s much more shimmery and pigmented when swatched! Too bad that doesn’t follow through the entirety of the shadow)
Lunasol has some very elegant packaging but this particularly eyeshadow comes housed in flimsy clear case. Guys, it’s an anniversary product couldn’t we get a little fancier? Plus at 2,500 yen (nearly $25 USD) you’d expect a good deal more pigment and better packaging! So yeah, these are quite expensive for a sheerer eyeshadow! Ouchie!
But I liked them none the less. It’s just that my logical side had to make certain you knew the ugly side before I gushed.
Each shadow features a 15th anniversary over spray! Oh woe is me! I had the dickens of a time actually swatching the formula because I didn’t want to ruin the limited edition over spray. But in the end I gave in and swiped away that lovely design.
Under it there’s considerably less sparkle than you’d think. The soft orange-y coral is almost matte in finish without sparkle. It’s a little chalky but still silky and applies very smooth on my eyes. The beige is considerably more shimmery with less pigment than the coral! This shade creates a pretty shimmery base on lids but doesn’t provide much in the way of color. For my look below I applied the beige all over my lid and the coral on the outer v and blended into my crease. It’s a very pretty look but again, very sheer. Pigment isn’t a strong point here but the formula is very smooth and has a silky, finely milled texture that’s a pleasure to use but beware as the shimmery beige does have a bit of fall out during application!
Is it worth $25? No way. You can get Excel Single Eyeshadows in Japan for considerably less with the same texture!
I’m game though…I purchased it anyway and I enjoyed using it! I just don’t think you need to race out to get it as it is quite expensive for what you get.
