MAC Kelly Osbourne Review & Swatches

I only got a two pieces from the MAC Kelly Osbourne portion of the MAC x Sharon and Kelly Osbourne Collection that launches this month but I hope to explore the collection more in stores shortly.

I’ll be reviewing these in more detail with face shots shortly but here’s my initial thoughts on the collection!

I received the MAC Bloody Brilliant Eyeshadow Quad and MAC Kelly Yum-Yum Lipstick from the MAC Sharon and Kelly Osbourne Collection recently.

The collection launches June 12th but I have a feeling you’ll see online shortly for sale as MAC seems to favor an online release a week prior to the actually store and counter release.

I happy to be a Sharon from what I’m seeing of the collection. Sharon’s Collection is warmer and for me it seems most wearable.

Kelly’s Collection comes housed in lilac packaging that quite reminds me the MAC Dame Edna Collection without the bling. I like the purple packaging a lot but I wish it was a little more fancier as aside from Kelly’s autograph in red the packaging is pretty standard and basic.

MAC Kelly Yum-Yum Lipstick is a super bright blue based pink. It’s very vibrant and almost neon in finish. Color payoff is opaque on a single application and the formula is very creamy with a lasting staining effect well after it fades. Wear time is around five hours for me but it feels a little drying during that wear on my already dry lips but nothing too uncomfortable. The satin finish feels a smidge more semi-matte to me so that could be why I’m experiencing some drying. I don’t particularly love the color because I look a little silly in shades like this but regardless it performance was pretty damn amazing. The color does look a lot like Candy Yum Yum but it is way brighter. If you love colors like this I’m positive you’ll adore this one!

The MAC Bloody Brilliant Eyeshadow Quad was a little more disappointing. This contains four shades, three of which are new, limited edition colors and one of which is permanent.

If they used this in Kelly’s promo image I’d say wow, amazing! Because she looks incredible in her MAC promotional image and her eyes are one of the things that really draw you into her overall look. Unfortunately I’m not as fair as Kelly and felt the colors went a bit muddy on me. I tried to contrast with the shades but they ran together into a single shade. They also seems quite dry to me and a bit denser with absolutely no fall out but a bit of a patchy blend out. I didn’t really love this one to be honest and prefer Sharon’s palette which I’m hoping isn’t as dry as Kelly’s!

Overall, from what I have seen from the MAC Kelly Osbourne Collection I’m not terribly impressed. The shades just don’t work for me. I have higher hopes for Sharon’s Collection! If anything at all it looks like Kelly’s Lipsticks are shaping up nicely but the eyeshadow quad is a big miss in my humblest! For $44 I’d expect way better quality.
