Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Foundation for Lightweight Coverage

Maybellime Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Foundation Fall 2014

Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Foundation offers a new way to get lightweight, natural coverage this Fall. Liquid fluid isn’t a new medium as Armani was one of the first brands to venture into the liquid foundation world. But we’re seeing more and more fluid foundations and I imagine they’ll be huge come Fall.

I imagine Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Foundation will likely be compared to L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder, a product I didn’t like, but I’m here to tell you it’s much better and not like L’Oreal’s formula.

Take a look!

Maybellime Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Foundation

Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Foundation comes in a glass jar and features a tear drop application with a tiny point at the end. As of now displays appear to have 12 shades but this is a permanent product for Fall 2014 so perhaps we’ll see more shades launch at some point.

I have to say I dislike the glass jar because I’m clumsy. I picture myself dropping this on my bathroom title and having it explode all over me and the floor in a million pieces. Eeep!

Maybelline recommends shaking well prior to using and slowly remove the wand from the top of the bottle. Please be careful when doing this. I noticed the rim and lip of the bottle gets very messy, very quickly and the wand tends to drip foundation all over the place. Just be careful you don’t get it on your clothes as you remove it.

The applicator is a plastic tear drop shape with a fine point at the end. The point allows for you to drip the foundation onto your fingertip without touching the applicator. This is great for me. I use my fingers when I apply foundation and bb cream so this works out fine for me. It could frustrate those who use a brush to apply foundation though as you might feel the bottle and applicator are messy when removing more foundation to use with a brush. Personally I think this applies best fingers anyway!

Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Foundation Maybelline

The texture is beautiful. It’s very runny yet hydrating with a slightly dewy finish. It does not adhere to my drier areas and creates a very smooth, even finish on my skin. Coverage ranges from sheer but can be built up for more coverage although keep in mind this will never be a medium or full coverage foundation. It should do well covering smaller visible pores, redness, darkness, and will even out skin tone giving a brighter, smoother appearance. I find it fades quickly on my skin so you do have to set with powder to extend the wear. It absorbs super fast and provides a very seamless, natural look on my skin but almost within two hours of wear I feel like it slips off into never never land. However, when setting with powder I can get a decent five hours of wear (I just dislike using powder to set as I have drier skin!).

Needless this has a lot of going things going for it. First off the texture and coverage is very unique to drugstore foundations and very easy to use as it absorbs and blends out picture perfectly. It also has a beautiful seamless look that brightens skin and creates a very natural your skin but better look. The wear time though is a little iffy…..it’ll likely vary from skin type to skin type but I see it wearing pretty shortly on oily skin and not much better for drier!

Overall, if the shorter wear time that Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Foundation provides doesn’t bother you, I’d say this formula is quite gorgeous and well worth checking out for breathable, lightweight, flawless coverage!

It’s launching now at drugstores.

Thanks for the review. I was unsure about it when I saw it at my local “and that” store so I did not purchase. Have a good weekend!

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure! 😀 I hope you try it kim it’s interesting! TGIF!

  • Jessica

Muse, I tried this a few days ago. You know what it reminds me of texture wise? The long discontinued L’Oreal AirWear foundation. That used to be one of my favorites. It doesn’t seem to last as long as AirWear did but the texture, and blendability reminds me so much of it.

    • Isabella Muse

god I wanna say I heard and know of airwear but I can’t remember it jessica. I do think people will automatically think or L’Oreal Magic (which I hated)! Did you like the formula? I really loved it but the wear was too short 🙁

      • Jessica

Muse, I LOVE the formula. I’m going to continue to play around with it, using different primers and finishing powders to see how to extend the wear time. That’s the only thing about this that disappointed me. For a formula that feels so light and dreamy on the skin, the wear time is horrid. Today I’m wearing it on top of Dior’s DreamSkin

L’Oreal AirWear was once my holy grail foundation. I have dry skin (slather it in La Mer) so it’s hard to find foundations and primers that don’t pill up, feel heavy, or dry me out further.

I didn’t do well with L’Oreal’s Magic didn’t work for me but friends with oily skin are loving it.

        • Isabella Muse

me too because I really like it as well! very natural and breathable coverage 😀 I had to google but I think I remember airwear now but never tried it myself! 😀 yeah, same here, doesn’t magic feel gritty? or am I nuts?!

          • Jessica

It does feel gritty! Like baking soda scrub gritty. It’s a shame you never tried AirWear, it was great for us dry girls. You’d be in the why did they discontinue this club.

          • Isabella Muse

maybe I have to check e-bay just to get a feel for it 😀 I’m positive someone has a decade old bottle hanging out somewhere haha!

          • Jessica

It’s definitely gritty feeling to me. Like baking soda gritty

  • Chelsea

This kind of makes me wish I hadn’t recently purchased expensive foundation! I don’t wear it everyday anyway, but this looks lovely.

    • Isabella Muse

that’s ok chelsea, imho expensive foundation is well worth the splurge!

      • Chelsea

Definitely! Especially being hard to match! I’ve not had great luck with Maybelline in the past for colors (the lightest Fit-Me stick is salmon pink on me!)

        • Isabella Muse

I have same issue so don’t feel bad sometimes foundation is worth splurging on for not only formula but also color range!

  • Lacy

I def will be trying this once I find it. Glad to hear all the positive reviews sans wear time

  • Holly Johnson

I really must try this. Too bad it doesn’t come with at least 1 oz of product:(

  • Lindsay

Classic Ivory looks like it might be just right for me, now I’m super excited to try this. Thank you for the review, the formula sounds like it’s just what I look for.

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure Lindsay love to hear your thoughts if you try!

  • koolchicken

I think if you prefer a brush or sponge you could just wipe the applicator onto a clean plate or even just pour some out of the bottle. I know that’s what I’ve done in the past when I wanted to use a brush. I kept a small (plastic) plate by my makeup just for that purpose and hand washed it after each use.

  • Jane

I got this this weekend and really like it, although I suspect my skin might not. It mattifies and really lasts, giving me porcelain face!

  • kellly

I sampled it yesterday at Target and liked it so well I’m going to go back tonight to get one. It covers better than Armani Maestro, has a creamier consistency and the wear (on my hand in the store, mind you) seemed good. I tried wiping it off and it stayed put. I liked it enough to give it a try. I just wish I was able to find it for such a great price as you saw! I think it’s about $11-$12 around here but still worth a try.

    • Isabella Muse

yay 😀 I’m glad to hear it kellly! but damn on the price 🙁

  • Ryou

The funny thing is that the ingredients list is EXACTLY the same as L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder. I wonder how the two formula could end up being very different for you.

    • Isabella Muse

no kid! didn’t compare! maybelline’s version feels a lot creamier!

      • Ryou

Yep, exact same ingredients list, down to the order of the ingredients! I hope this means there’s less alcohol in the Maybelline’s version compared to the L’Oreal.

  • rawortley

Funny because I’ve seen that in ingredients are like identical to the loreal. I tested it at target and I didn’t think it felt like the loreal as much either..though I too expected it to. Maybe I just didn’t pay enough attention because I have well over 20 foundation and have my eyes on the Marc Jacobs ridiculously expensive mousse….but I do find it weird the ingredients are so close…

  • Lynn

Thanks for the review 😀 I’m about NC20-25. I’m wondering if you can recommend a shade. Thanks!

  • Jennifer Borkowski

Hi! I just bought this and am in shock! It’s really unlike anything that I’ve ever tried. I almost didn’t buy it because I was afraid that ther me was no way it would cover. Again…I’m in shock. It covers beautiful, and I have rosacea. I can’t stand a luminous finish and this, to me, seems smooth, velvety and almost powder like??? To me it felt like it this even as I was applying with my finger. I’m typically a Lancôme 24 hr user, but my favorite is honestly maybelline dream matte. The whipped one. Even that would look very shiny throughout the day. I checked all my same go to mirrors in my house, and they all tell the same powdery, even toned story! I’m ridiculously excited, and hope the wear isn’t awful. I did but natural beige but am wanting a shade with more yellow in it. Any suggestions?

  • stevee

I was really scared this would break me out because the dream mousse gave me one of the worse breakout of my life. It took weeks to get my skin back under control. I actually don’t have an issue with the wear time…its not the greatest but its not the worse. I have oily acne prone skin and live in florida so i always use setting powder of some sort. My only issue is i hate the application with a passion it gets messy and takes several dips to get enough product.

  • charlotte

I bought it last week and wore it once for a full day (I bought the wrong color and it was a bit dark).. I found it to have really nice coverage, it was not full coverage but it evened my skin tone beautifully. It wore really well as well, stayed even and “invisible” throughout. I would highly suggest anyone with rosacea or hyperpigmentation give it a try. I live in S. Louisiana and have oily/combo skin.. I was really impressed with how it wore, even in the heat it went a full day with only the slightest bit of stickiness around my nose after six to eight hours. I did use my usual primer and powder so I would suggest that for anyone have trouble with the staying power. It felt fantastic on too, like there was nothing there. I’m exchanging mine first chance I get.

Muse, you made me so happy today! A few days ago my beloved MAC Face and Body disappeared. So I’ve been wearing UD Naked this week, and for some reason, though I loved it a year or so ago, it’s just not fitting the bill right now. The other day I thought that if I’d just buy a new drugstore foundation, Face and Body would come back from whatever deep hiding hole it’s in. Today I was reading your blog as normal and saw the Armani one you mentioned, and then clicked over to this, because it was more what I’m currently looking for (in that it’s not $60). I ran to Walgreens before dinner and put this new Maybeline foundation on in the car, it’s so perfect! I love the lightness, I like the silky feel and the finish is so natural and yet perfected. I’ll still be thrilled to find Face and Body because I love it, but this is a great choice for those on a budget or when you need something different.

    • Isabella Muse

fantastic I am so so so glad you picked this up breyer and that it worked for you 😀 It’s perfect lightweight coverage! Set with powder and it looks so natural and pretty 😀 glad you’re enjoying it 😀

  • Amanda

I LOVE this foundation. It is better than the expensive foundations I have tried, and I have tried toooooooooo many. I’m greasy so I do prime and powder but find this natural and wonderful!

  • Axian

Great Review! You can grab this foundation for $2.49 at Rite Aid as they are having a sale!

  • Margaret

The bottle design reminds me of Perricone’s No Foundation Foundation. It also has the dropper feature, as well. But Perricone’s only comes in two shades, that I’m aware of and it’s much more expensive.

  • SUSAN

I love it too….really works on my old dry skin and I don’t need a primer. I buy it by the pound I love it so much, afraid they will discontinue it. Perfect light coverage for older gals.

  • Laura

I like and use this foundation daily. With powder, I find it lasts all day. I have oily skin.

Like many others, I don’t like the applicator. I cut it off as close to the cap as I can and I find this solves the problem of the annoying applicator.
