Maybelline Deep Forest Color Tattoo Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow Deep Forest

Maybelline Deep Forest Color Tattoo Eyeshadow is one of five, new Fall 2014 Leather Color Tattoo Eyeshadows that launched with the Maybelline Dare to Go Nude Collection.

I noticed on the lid of the Maybelline Deep Forest Color Tattoo Eyeshadow it says “Color Tattoo Leather Eyeshadow” which has me wondering if these might be permanent shades as some point the way the Maybelline Metallic Color Tattoo Eyeshadows are as those too have their own permanent display.

Deep Forest or none of the other shades have limited edition written on the outer wrapping but doesn’t mean they aren’t so at this point I’m just speculating these might just be permanent.

Maybelline Deep Forest Color Tattoo Eyeshadow is one of four shades from the Dare to Go Nude Color Tattoo Eyeshadows that has a matte finish. Maybelline has launched limited edition matte shades in the past but sadly matte shades are kinda of lacking from a majority of the launches they’ve done of these cream shadows.

Maybelline Deep Forest Color Tattoo Eyeshadow is a khaki shade of navy green. It actually applies with hints of smoky gray on my eyes. There is no sparkle or shimmer here and the shade sets to a smoother satin matte finish. It’s very creamy and blends easily onto lids. It does have a tendency to sheer out no matter how much you apply so the shade doesn’t really show as green but more of a smoky greenish gray. That’s ok though as I like how it smokes out as it makes for a nice basic smoky eye without overdoing things and the color is so soft that it doesn’t accentuate my finer lines or dark circles. It sets well on my drier eyes without creasing or fading for about seven hours before showing some signs of wear at hour eight.

Maybelline Deep Forest Color Tattoo Eyeshadow is a rather simple shade. There isn’t a ton of drama here! This is a nice way to get an easy smoky eye that you can accent with dramatic eyeliner. Or you can use the shade as a base for a more elaborate smoky look. If you like no nonsense mattes you’ll get on well with this! However, some might be a bit disappointed with the way this sheers away easily as you blend!

I liked it! I have finer lines and darker circles so I can’t do too dark a smoky look and this is the perfect way to get an easy smoky look without being overwhelming!

I got mine at Bed, Bath, and Beyond but you should see it shortly at other drugstore locations I’m sure.

Anyone try it?

I love that color, and I love that it’s matte! It looks great on you! 🙂 Can’t wait to find these when they finally hit stores in Kansas…for which I’m not holding my breath.

    Hey Muse,

I was fortunate to grab one of these from the drug store and I love the color as well! I also wish the color was a bit more intense. I tried to use a cream shadow brush and it seems to help a bit with building up the color.

You seem to have gotten pretty good pigmentation with your application as well 🙂 Did you use a brush as well or did you mostly rely on your fingers?
