Urban Decay Perversion Mascara Review
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara is the latest in a long line of Perversion inspired eyeliner products that Urban Decay has been releasing. I think Urban Decay Perversion Mascara is an exciting release considering how pigmented and blacker than black the Perversion 24/7 Eyeliner formula is! I’d love the idea of intensely black, dramatic mascara!
The shade actually has a fair bit of history as it started out life as a polish way back in the 90’s followed up the cult favorite 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil and later turned into a new Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner and even a liquid eyeliner!
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara was something Urban Decay creator, Wende Zomnir, created because she was thinking how great would it be if we all could apply Perversion 24/ Eye Pencil to our lashes?!
So on July 13 we were gifted with the option to do just that with the new Urban Decay Perversion Mascara launch. Marketed as a bigger, blacker, and badder this mascara definitely has a super creamy, blacker than black formula that uses “triple black pigments”.
I find the formula pretty wet but it pulls through lashes very well without being too clumpy so long as I am taking application slow. If I rush things I end up with a bit of a spiker look a la L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara. So do take it slow until you get a feel for the mascara as first use I was a bit disappointed at how wet and clumpy my lashes looked!
The brush applicator sports a twisted trim brush which has a good deal of bristles. This acts to create a clump-free finish but as I said I felt it clumped a bit at first application until I got a feel for the formula. Just take it slow and you’ll find it applies fairly well and clump-free! It’s when I rushed that I ended up with a mess. The brush is a bigger, bushier brush but it handles easily without being overly large or giving that “I’ll poke my eye out” kinda vibe!
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara Before and After
The formula is very lightweight and doesn’t make my lashes stiff or crunchy. It removes easily at the end of the night and doesn’t flake or smudge on my drier eyes. I do find layering does cause smearing so be careful as you apply more coats as it does end up messy and also you’ll find lashes sticks together.
I think length wise it’s alright! Nothing too dramatic though! The real drama stems from the very black formula! I’d say I got some nice length, not a ton of volume, and a bit of curl. So yeah, it is blacker than black but as far as performing dramatic miracles on lashes, well, you might be slightly disappointed!
