Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush Review
The Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush ($89.50) is a new cleansing brush that was created and specifically designed to work in conjunction with Clinique’s custom-fit 3- Step Skin Care System. If you’re a user of Clinique’s Skincare I’m positive the new Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush will top your wish list!
This new cleansing brush was designed with a host of features to get skin cleanser, smoother, and more radiant with simple, daily use.
Let’s take a look!
The Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush is something I’d call a gimmick a few years ago. I actually had a rather bad experience when I purchased my first cleansing brush and thought it was a bit of a waste of money. I realized through that cleansing brushes are something you need to commit to in order to see results. They are a long time to visible results part of your skincare regime and actually are worth using daily as you will reap benefits by adding it to your daily skincare line up if you’re patient!
What makes the Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush different is it’s portable size and interesting brush design. This comes with a small base for charging and a lightweight, easy to travel brush that has a pivoted, slightly tilted head. It’s actually smaller and lighter than the Clarisonic Mia.
Clinique did go simple with the design here as it has one main button that’s used to turn the unit on and off. It has a 30 second timer but the timer can not be customized. Clinique recommends using it 30 seconds for the first few times so your face can get used to it and after that you can use it a full minute but no longer. You don’t want to over cleanse so one minute is plenty! I do wish I can set the timer for one one minute but perhaps in future releases they will add such a feature.
Clinique’s brush head is a good deal smaller than what you might see from other cleansing brushes and it’s actually designed in a way that it’ll fit the contours of your face and in the crevices of your nose, etc in such a way that the circle size brush head we commonly see will not. The oval shaped brush head was designed with hard to reach places in mind like around your nose and chin. I find it pulsates about the same as a Clarisonic when fully charged.
I’ve been using it for two weeks now and it took me about two days to understand how it works. As you can see the brush head has portion of green tipped bristles and the rest are white. Those green tip bristles are actually harsh on my face and the white are softer. I realized that the firmer shorter green bristles are for cleansing areas that are prone to oil and clogging so say your t-zone or your nose. The white bristles are softer and perfect for your cheeks! At first, I was confused how to run the brush around my face so the green bristles weren’t touching my cheeks as they are kinda dense and harsh. I realized quickly the brush head kinda tilts downward and up depending how you hold it so it’s easy enough to use the two different textured bristles in places I need them. I admit it was frustrating at first but I actually kinda love the idea now! Especially since the green brush bristles are harsh enough to get at the blackheads that love to take up residence on my nose!
A single charge will give you three hours time of battery so at 1 minute daily use it’ll be a while before you need to recharge the unit. It’s also waterproof so whether you’re at the sink or in the shower you can easily cleanse your face without worrying about submerging the unit.
The results…
I’m sure you’re curious what sort of results you can expect. I’ve only been using it for two weeks but my skin likes it to say the least. Like ALL skincare brushes it is something you need to commit to or you won’t see the results. I use it daily in the shower with a lathering cleanser. I don’t really use any of my cleansing brushes, the Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush included, to remove makeup, so I can’t really speak about the results on that. I prefer to cleanse my face full before using the unit and follow up by using it as a “treatment” of sorts in a double cleanse. So at the end of the night I clean all my makeup off my face with cleansing oil and I follow up using the brush with a cleansing foam. There is something to be said about using a cleansing brush daily as your skin will take a minute to adjust. You’ll find your skin will become more oily (this is kinda a detox phase) because the brush is working to unclog pores! After that minor adjustment period you’ll notice your moisturizer absorbs more easier, you’ll find that your makeup looks smoother. And your skin for that matter will feel softer and look smoother. And if you suffer from clogged pores you’ll find the brush really aids in unclogging them. And most importantly your skin will look younger. But again, I can’t stress this enough, you have to commit to using the brush daily before you see these results.
The Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush is a game changer in the skincare brush cleansing world. They took an idea that was already great but they gave us a fresh spin on it with a new and interesting dual performance brush that fits perfectly around the contours of our faces. It’s difficult to recreate an idea that’s already great but Clinique does just that with this new brush. It has a little bit of a learning curve but I think you’ll easily grow to like it as much as I do.
