Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation Review & Swatches
Cocoa in my foundation? Yup, Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation utilizes the power of a cocoa complex in their new foundation formula!
Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation is a new weightless, matte, rose petal finish foundation powder with an oily absorbing, non-drying formula that defends against free radicals using an exclusive Cocoa Complex. Cocoa Powder Foundation’s formula promises to hide imperfections while minimizing the appearance of fine lines and pores. Oh, and hey, it smells like freaking chocolate.
What more could a girl or guy want?!
Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation’s exclusive cocoa complex is a blend of antioxidant rich cocoa powder and moisturizing cocoa butter that work together to hydrate skin as it absorbs excess oil.
According to Too Faced the eight shades available are flexible so they work with almost any skin tone! The Crystalline Powder formula is made up of hexagonal-shaped platelets that slide over each other to bring out skins natural radiance while added pearl powder creates a soft focus effect leaving skin with a luminous rose petal finish.
Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation comes housed in a sleek, lace cut out black lacquer compact featuring a dual compartment with a generously sized mirror and the powder located on the top portion and a stealthy compartment underneath that hides away sponge applicator for application.
I don’t really love chocolate scented anything but this really does smell lovely. I really adore fragrance in my makeup products. I realize not everyone loves fragrance and sensitive users in particularly dislike it but I really love it. I find the idea of a foundation powder scented like chocolate very novel! The scent does disappear quickly once applied. It’s basically the same scent as Too Faced Chocolate Soleil.
Hi, I’m the Muse I have dry skin. I don’t really rely on powder anything. Not setting powder, not foundation powder. I’m a BB Cream kinda gal or a liquid or cream foundation one. I don’t really love the idea of powder foundation. However, Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation comes at a good time because my skin is a bit combo at the moment so I have an oily forehead, drier cheeks, and the sides of my nose show signs of oil. So now is a good time as any to test this baby out.
The powder is fairly standard with a smooth texture that’s slightly dense yet powdery when a brush is run through it but not chalky. If I apply it with the rubber sponge (which you can use wet) I find that it’s a bit too much for my drier cheeks and it does end up clinging to those flakier areas. If I apply it with a kabuki or even sweep on a layer with a bushier brush it applies much, much better and has a smooth, silky set that isn’t overly matte yet still curbs shine and evens out skin tone while brightening up my entire face. I tried it in Light which is a bit TOO light for my face but it actually ended up looking very natural on and never pasty or chalky (it’s at least a shade too light for my current skin tone as I have a bit of a tan). It does promise medium to full coverage but can easily applied for a sheer, even layer on skin. Full coverage is pressing the envelope because even used wet I wouldn’t say it’s completely full coverage however, you can likely get sheerer to slightly medium coverage with plenty enough pigment to hide issues such as redness, blemishes, and dark spots. I find it wears quite strongly on my currently combination skin. I can get about six hours in with a wet application and about five with a dry one. Being dry around my cheeks I like to apply it, my makeup, and follow up with a very far away mist of setting spray to give it a little dewiness so it doesn’t cling to my flakier cheeks. It actually sets to a very nice airbrushed finished without it looking cakey. I wouldn’t call it finely milled but the powder is silky in texture with a very easy to blend out formula.

Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation is sure to please many oily skin users out there with fairly good skin. You might require full coverage and if you do you might be disappointed by the pigmentation here as I wouldn’t go so far as to call it full coverage. However, those who have oily skin and desire a matte, easy to wear, natural looking foundation powder will likely love Too Faced Cocoa Powder. I see it being a smashing success with such a skin type and of course, those will combo skin will also be able to make it work. If your skin is drier you might not love this formula. Although silky, it does have a tendency to stick to drier areas and not smooth over them.
Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation is an interesting concept and makes for nice, lightweight, natural coverage and Summer wearin’!
It’s available now at Sephora.com as well as TooFaced.com.
