Mally Simple Steps To A U, U Love Set

Needless to say cushion makeup is trending at the moment and outside of Korea it isn’t cheap so $60 for the Mally Simple Steps To A U, U Love is a steal as the cushion makeup along would likely set you back $40-$50 and this set not only include it but also five other full size pieces.

I’ve already reviewed the Poreless Perfection Fluid Foundation in great detail and have linked to it in this review so if you haven’t ready it you can click the link and read through it at your leisure. One thing I didn’t mention in that post was the fact Mally includes a really cool blending brush in this set. It’s a smallish flat top fiber brush which works GREAT with the Fluid Foundation as it buffs the foundation onto skin in a truly flawless finish. I personally love brushes like this as they make foundation application so very flawless.

I’ve also gone into great detail about the Nourishing Lipstick included with this set and link to the review in this post as well should you wish to read it! This set is on auto delivery which means a new shipment at the same low price will ship to you every 90 days and one of the items that has a color change over the course of the next three shipments is this lipstick (as well as the eyeliner and eyeshadow).

Mally Perfect Prep Under-Eye Brightener is a product I tried a very long time ago when it was originally introduced. Being a fond fan of anything that brightens under my eyes I was quick to purchase this very thick yellow prep or concealer if you will. This comes in a small glass jar weighting in at .04 oz and a little goes a very long way. It’s very thick and very pigmented (but it does sheer out considerably). I’ve seen gurus on youTube contour with Benefit Lemonaid and I imagine if you have the know how this will work GREAT as a contouring tool. It’s a little sheer once you blend it but it builds up considerably. I got the Yellow shade because I choose the lighter shade of the Fluid Makeup so the color selection depends on which shade of foundation you go with. The yellow is good at counteracting blue and black circles, darkness, etc….! When I originally tried it I thought it would act as a concealer and was disappointed it didn’t! But it is a tool that can be used to add brightness around the eyes and contour of the eyes much like my beloved Coastal Scents Bright Eyed Eye Brightener. It’s really a product you have to understand in order to use correctly and I admit to using it wrong when I originally tried it. It won’t conceal! So do conceal your eyes prior to using it. Don’t pat it on! Get a smaller blending brush, dip it into the pot, and swirl your brush into the lid of the pot and proceed to buff it in the hollow of your eyes. It’ll sheer out but it’ll also create a brighter appearance. It won’t crease so long as you apply it correctly. You’ll want to build it slowly and blend, blend, blend it away! When used correctly in conjunction with your own concealer this product does in fact add a nice bit of brightness under eyes!

For your eyes the set includes a Shadow Stick in Copper Rose which quite reminds me of a darker shade of Maybelline Inked in Pink Color Tattoo Eyeshadow. This is a darker metallic rosy copper shade with a creamy formula that glides easily onto eyes. I’ve always compared Mally’s Shadow Stick’s to the greatness of Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks so if you love those you’ll love this formula! They also include a Volumizing Mascara which adds great length, curl, and lushness to lashes with a formula that removes easily and doesn’t flake or smear under my drier eyes. And finally a navy shaded Eyecolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner. AS A HUGE supporter of Mally’s Eyeliners I must admit this was a little disappointing. The formula is fab! It’s creamy, long wearing, and glides onto eyes easily. I’ve never had a problem with her eyeliner formula and have always been completely floored by the long wear they have on the waterline. My problem was the color…the Navy just wasn’t flattering to me with the metallic coppery pink eyeshadow. It seemed like an odd match up!

Overall, this set not only introduces you to a very awesome cushion makeup but also several other Mally Beauty products that are fabulous. I didn’t go with auto ship on this set because I wasn’t sure I’d use the cushion makeup in 90 days…it seems like a lot of cushion makeup over the course of the year to get through as this is a three shipment auto ship set. So I only went with the initial first shipment. Needless to say it’s a great deal at this price and truly a nice selection of products and a fab intro to Mally if you never tried her incredible makeup!

Muse, do you think this eyeshadow is comparable to Trick from UD Naked 3? It looks like it has some warm/orange tone in it. Does it have glitter in it? I love her shadow sticks but find that some (like Champagne) just look very glittery when blended out. Thanks!

    • Isabella Muse

a little more pink and less coppery nicole. And it’s not really glitter but more metallic so it can be frosty looking if you don’t blend well which in turn gives it that overly shimmery appearance. Hope this makes sense!?

I just went and purchased the kit based on your review. Thanks so much! Excited to get it!

YAYYYYY please tell me what you think when it arrives 🙂

I’m interested in the cushion foundation after reading your previous review & how it works on the dry or dry patch. My dry skin flakes are omnipresent & are what keep me from wearing a true foundation. Try putting the navy/black pencil in your waterline. That’s the one place I wear purple or blue eyeliners anymore. Adds some pop to a neutral eye look. I agree it was an odd choice to mix with the rosy shadow stick.

hi jules I have drier skin as well and mentioned in my full review of the cushion that it works great 🙂 nice smooth hydrating finish 🙂 yeah, I think maybe that’s the only place it’ll work, waterline, because paired with the copper rose it looks odd?! 😀

I ordered mine this morning. I am so glad you gave the prefect prep a second chance!! I really want it for that 3pm perk up Mally references in her presentation. I tend to get a little blue in the inner corners so I am hoping this does the trick of brightening it up in there. I have several of her shadow sticks and am happy to add this color to my collection. Can’t wait to try her version of cushion foundation. There are no wasted products in this kit for me. Can’t wait to get it!

I ordered it last night while watching the presentation. Mally could sell ice to an eskimo LOL. I’m most excited to try the new foundation and I always love her shadow sticks. I wanted that set of 5 shadow sticks too but I held back.

Great review! I have dry skin and I agree, this foundation works well. I have no flakes or dryness or caking from this foundation. I did the auto delivery and was wondering, do you know what the colors will be for the future shipments?
