Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fibers

Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fibers had me seriously hyper when I heard about their release with the Tarte Fall 2014 Collection.

I’m such a fan of Too Faced Better Than False Lashes Nylon Lash Extension System and always expressed that I wanted the fibers with the set to be sold individually because 1. I tend to use them quicker than the mascara in the set and 2. it sure would make things cheaper!

Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fibers makes my wish become a reality as not only does it only cost $19 BUT it also comes with a deluxe size sample of Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes, one of my favorite mascaras!

Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fibers Set

Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fibers is an interesting product and in my eyes can be compared best to Mirenesse Instant Lash Transplant Volumising Kit.

This set includes a 0.028 Lash Extending Fibers tube and a 0.10 oz Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara. Some may be disappointed the mascara isn’t full size but I think not including a full size mascara keeps the cost down on the fibers so I’m quite ok with that.

Unlike Too Faced’s version these aren’t white fibers but black. They actually do not add much in the way of length but instead they rely on creating volume and fullness to your lashes. You’re actually using it in a completely different way as well when compared to Too Faced’s version as you’ll be applying mascara first and following up with the fibers!

As you can see the applicator is just a straight barrel and the fibers cling to the barrel. It kinda looks like a fuzzy spider’s leg doesn’t it? For your first step of application you’ll apply a layer or two of mascara after that you’ll brush the fibers slowly onto your lashes and follow up with another layer of mascara to set the fibers. I didn’t see length with the fibers but honestly, the Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara formula always gives me great length anyway! However, the fibers do add volume. They kinda fall between lashes and cling to the space in between which results in your lashes looking fuller and fatter.

Unfortunately, I had a real issue with the fibers. First off they do have a fair bit of fall out during the application! That’s ok, they dusted away easily enough. My real problem was the wear of the fibers! They tend to creep under my lash line and kept me blinking all day. I’m not sensitive nor do I wear contacts but I felt like I had something inside my eye all day and it was very frustrating. At one point my eyes were very watery as well. After a few hours the effect wore away but even at that point I still felt like I had a lash or something in my eye! It really wasn’t a pleasant experience and it reminded me why I avoid fiber mascaras. There wasn’t fall out through the day though and the mascara wears strong without fading or smearing on my drier eyes. It’s just the “I have a lash in my eye feeling” that bugged me most. The mascara does remove easily at the end of the day and the fibers whisk away with an oil based remover.

I love the way Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fibers look on but my eyes unfortunately aren’t of the same frame of mind and they weren’t the loving the formula. If you’re sensitive be careful when using these. They are interesting but the feeling of having something in my eye all day threw me for a curve ball! Those who like and use fiber mascaras won’t mind the odd feeling I’m sure as you’ll be used to it. In that case, I imagine you’ll love this set but I couldn’t get used to it personally! Sadness because it really does make my lashes look amazing!

These are available now at Ulta.com and Sephora.com.

Wow! Your lashes look great. Did you curl them in the “after” photo, or did the mascara do that, too?

I own them and they work very nicely. The trick for me I found was not to apply the fibers all the way to the root of my lashes. Instead I only applied them to the top half of my lashes and it takes away the feeling of having something in my eye. I also set it with waterproof mascara so it stays pretty well through the day.

I just bought mine from Sephora and the fibre tube WAS COMPLETE EMPTY. Not even just dried up – it was completely void of any fibres. I’m going to have to go back to exchange it.

Needless to say, I’m not getting off to a good start with this product.
