Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base

Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base ($25) is a new eyeshadow primer that helps smooth, brighten, and even out eye lids in a flash. Yeah, I got little excited about this one. As a rabid fan girl of Benefit Lemon Aid I do so admit to cheating with other products in the hope I can replicate the same brightening awesomeness that Lemon Aid provides. And Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base seemed spot on for just what I was looking for!

If you recall Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base used to come in a click pen! I actually reviewed it way back in 2008 so if you follow me maybe you remember that review! I do think a lot has changed since 2008 and it isn’t just the packaging!

The new new squeeze tube is a joy to use especially if you’re not keen on click pens with attached brushes. The unique aspect of Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base is the fact it not only acts to prep lids and brighten them up but it intensifies your shadow and holds it in place. I think you have products like Lemon Aid that brighten but don’t necessarily prime for shadow and you have products like Urban Decay Primer Potion that do not brighten but do in fact hold shadow in place. Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base does both! So if you want go ahead and smooth it on and head out of the house without shadow on. Without shadow it brightens up your entire eye area and gives a nice, natural finish. Because hey, you conceal under your eyes why not above them as well? And if you want to apply shadow on top? No problem! This formula not only adds intensity to shades due to the strong creamy base it provides but it locks them in place so they aren’t fading away or creasing!

The formula is thicker than I remember and the color is now a softer beige versus the slight peachiness of the original. It’s a bit tacky going on but it blends out to a very smooth finish on my drier eyes. This also happens to reduce fall out since it is a bit thicker and which catches shadow and holds it on as you blend so you’ll find it works great with sparkly shades or chunkier shadows known for fall out.

I do believe it’s been reformulated considerable as I remembering the consistency being looser and more hydrating. Not it’s more emollient, creamy still but a little tacky which is great for locking shadow down. I actually like the way it looks by itself as my eyes always look a little tried if I don’t prep my lid as well as under my eye. This creates a nice, brightened look so I can pretend I actually got eight hours of sleep when I’m really working on four or five!

I liked it before and I still like Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base. If you don’t mind a thicker primer you’ll enjoy this one and don’t forget it’s not a one tricky pony! This one is plays double duty by acting as a primer and simply alone as a brightening base for tired eyes.

It’s popping up now at your favorite Clarins counters or grab it at www.clarinsusa.com and macys.com.

it’s out now, macys.com has it. My local macys has it in store as well. It’s supposed to be out as of September officially but right now stores are stocking it.

I will definitely have to try this one. I usually use Smashbox Lid Primer because it perfects my eyelids (discoloration)and holds the shadow. I really like concealing type eye primers and this looks like it will fit the bill. Thanks Muse.
