Dr Jart Bounce Beauty Balm5

Dr Jart Bounce Beauty Balm ($58) is probably one of my favorite foundation releases of Fall 2014! This new “bounce” BB Cream isn’t your typical cushion BB Cream that we are currently seeing both in Asian and US releases! Dr Jart did a little something different with their formula and I’m LIKING it A LOT!

Let’s take a look at the Dr Jart Bounce Beauty Balm and see what I’m excited about!

Dr Jart Bounce Beauty Balm is a newly launched cushion-like BB Cream that’s available in two shade releases for Fall 2014. This isn’t your typical cushion makeup through as it’s actually a cream formulation with an elastic mesh covering that gives it a bounce-y feel. I’d like it to a molding clay of sorts and not the squishy sponges we’re seeing with many cushion makeup releases. The actual Beauty Balm seems to be a solid yet creamy texture and a soft mesh has been lain over it. As you press on it you’ll find it feels like the texture of Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush! The memory foam shape bounces back to shape after each use and contains a blend of polymers, collagen, and hyaluronic acid for lightweight coverage as well as SPF 30.

I think this releases just in time for Fall as the weather is starting to cool down and you might be looking for something a touch more long wearing and pigmented for your coverage this autumn. This is a very unique and innovative design compared to the many, many, many different cushion makeups I’ve featured on Musings of a Muse over the last few months. It still comes in a chunky compact that features a dual lid. The first levels opens to reveal the mirror and powder puff and another lid is found below the puff that seals closed to protect the Beauty Balm.

They created this formula with host of different ingredients to not only firm skin but to improve the elasticity of it and brighten it!

  • Hyaluronic Acid: Hydrates skin and maintains skin’s elasticity.
  • Hydrolyzed Marine Collage: Firms skin.
  • Nordenau Water: Moisturizes.
  • Pomegranate Extract: Improves skin elasticity.
  • Grape Seed Oil: Brightens your complexion as it prevents aging.
  • Elderberry: Prevents aging and increases elasticity.
  • Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Doixde: Mineral sunscreen actives.

I find the texture creamy with a matte finish that doesn’t cling to my drier areas. It provides a smooth, flawless finish that brightens up my dull skin and provides a gorgeous, even finish. I have visible pores on my nose and this completely blurs their appearance so I can imagine what it could do for larger pores on your face if you have them. I find the coverage much heavier than what we have been seeing from It Cosmetics and Mally Beauty as this isn’t a fluid foundation but more of a creamy one plus it has far more coverage with a longer wear. I typically find that Dr Jart’s BB Creams are a little too pink for me but both the Light Medium and the Medium Dark fit me perfectly and adjusts well with a creamy beige base that had a cooler undertone but didn’t give me a pasty or chalky finish but merely brightened up my skin considerably. The wear is excellent too as I can get a solid seven hours of wear even on a warmer day without setting with powder. I have a good deal of favorite BB Cream formulas from Dr Jart but I must say the Bounce Beauty Balm tops my list! If you’re a sensitive user this is also happens to be free of artificial fragrances, parabens, mineral oil, and petroleum!

If you’re shopping Fall foundations and you’re looking for fuller coverage in a longer wearing formula with an innovative texture and design I think Dr Jart Bounce Beauty Balm will fit your wish list perfectly. This a beautifully formulated foundation balm that brightens, perfects, and creates flawless skin!

Love it!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I played with this at the store but I think the tester was too old or dried out or something because the light medium shade was a lot darker than your swatch and was too “orange” for normally pale but now naturally tanned skin. Also the texture was thick and chalky. 🙁 Otherwise I want to try this. I’m just iffy on the price point. And you know me I love me my Dr.Jart BBs

Also IYO which is better, Dr.Jart or the new IT Cosmetics one? Because I want both but can’t justify spending the cash on both. And I don’t really need either LOL. I recently grabbed the new Perricone MD no foundation foundation serum, and the Dr. Jart Dis-a-Pore, and I still have Dr. Jart waterfuse for spring/summer and V7 for fall/winter in rotation on top of the random things I grab to try like the NYC bb which I love! Palmer’s eventone bb I found at Big Lots for $3!!, Ponds bb, It cosmetics celebration foundation illumination (which I loved at first and absolutely hate now – it was awesome for weeks then suddenly started to cling to dry area so it collects dust now ><) Ugh i'm a crazy cosmetic junkie…..

could have dried out Lacy thus the weird shade! both shades are actually a creamy beige in my opinion not orange thankfully 🙂 can’t really say because they are two vastly different products. It cosmetics is a fluid, lightweight, has more SPF, but less coverage. Dr Jart is thicker, creamier, has less spf, more coverage. It depends what you are looking for in a foundation. Do you want lighter less coverage? go with the It, do you need more coverage? go with the Dr Jart. I like the It one for Summer wear but the Dr Jart is a great Winter foundation. 🙂 haha welcome to my world 😀

Yup! I’ve been WAITING for someone to review this so thanks Muse! Getting this for sure for the fall. It sounds perfect for me! I have dry patches and nose pores too, so yay!

I have NC20-25 skin. I fell in love with the formula it is wonderful, it truly is bouncy! Make no mistake when they say light-medium they mean it. I tried it for a couple of days after ordering it online and I had to return it. It was too dark, plus something else. . . . the color was just off. I wear the other Dr. Jart BBs without difficulty. This looks darker in the pan and on the skin. As much as I loved the formula I will have to wait for a shade that is closer to my skin tone. PS. your complexion, as well as the Muse appears lighter than mine. Try this one in the stor if u can! Hope this is helpful!

So maybe I’m not understanding the product but if it’s a cream covered with mesh, what happens as you use the product and the level of the cream in the jar drops? Won’t the mesh keep you from accessing the cream as the level gets lower in the jar?

    • Isabella Muse

the mash is very flexible and pressed in any which direction as well as quite down so you should be able to squeeze the last amount out without any problem.

    Hi Iz,
Dr Jart was my first ever BB a few years back. There was only one shade and it looked like sheet rock! I can’t wait to check this out. The dark looks right up my alley. Thx as always!

same here debbi! I think Skin 79 and Dr Jart were indeed two of my first bbs too 😀 but yeah some of their shades are too pasty for me but this one is FAB! Hope it works for you!

This looks cool, but compacts gross me out, they just seem like a breeding ground for bacteria and germs. The only kind of compacts I like are powder for touch ups.

hi! i enjoy your review a lot! you must have a ton of space to makeup storage! lol!

i hope you can help me out. i am usually a nc25-30, depending on the season, with asian skin/yellow undertone. do you think i should get the light medium or medium dark? thanks!

you should post a review of all the cushions you’ve tried and compare them… coverage, skin type, duration, etc….! have you tried the Sulwhasoo cushion foundation? hopefully i can try that someday.

    keep up the good work!

I just noticed the review for this on Paula’s Choice Beautypedia and I had to find a picture of it. How disappointing. It looks about as unsanitary as every other product in this type of packaging, including the new BB creams with that awful sponge inside. Yuck!! What a breeding ground for bacteria.
